That is the coolest track car I've seen in awhile! So much rubber...110mm more than I've got on the miata at each corner.

Also, how did you set up the clutch pedal in a car that never came with one?

That part wasn't easy but I basically cut the clutch pedal part off of a Mustang pedal assembly and welded it to the stock pedal assembly and used a Mustang application Steeda quadrant and Ford Motorsport cable assembly. The transmission cross member has to be modified a little bit and the T45s are 5/8" shorter the stock trans so I just made a spacer and so far it seems fine. Next I need a good seat, a tubing bender, and some DOM tubing..

I'm not exactly sure but I'm guessing 4000 - 4200 lbs.. It feels lighter than my 97 540i 6 speed at 3850 lbs but I know it's not, it just feels like it.. and the brakes seem to be a lot better than the beamer too. The best pads I've put on it have been the bendix fleet MetLok that are only about $42 a set and I have tried Hawk HPS that were $100 and not near as good and I have performance friction pads on it now that are comparable but still not as good as the bendix and they were about $65 if I remember right.. To answer your question more simply, I could have 2 drilled bendix rotors and a set of the metlok pads on my porch in 2 days for $159.43 and they work better the hotter they get.

^^^ Yours is not the first Crown Vic I have seen at the track. Several years ago, I was running an open track event at WSIR big track (probably with OTR), and there was a chauffer there, whose job was to drive very wealthy individuals around in an armored limousine. He wanted to learn high-speed evasive maneuvers (like to avoid kidnappers), so he was flying around WSIR with an instructor in his Crown Vic.

    Hi Guys,

My name is Brian. I've been a serial lurker here since the days of Manly. I already know some of you from days past when I used to run Miata Challenge several years ago. I've been out of the track scene for around 3.5 years now. I finally decided to get back into it at the end of last year. For me that required "doing it right". Having been in a high speed rollover at Buttonwillow in a WRX I've always been leery of essentially running a street car with a rollbar at triple digits speeds. This topic has been discussed numerous times here. I took my 2006 Mazda MX-5 over to Moti and had it done right. After six months work, it's finally time to go have some fun. I'll be running some of the Miata Challenge events other Speedventure events around SoCal as time permits.

Nice cars! I bet that Vic is lighter than you think, because my 300 SRT was 4300 pounds, and I would bet it was heavier... wouldn't shock me if you were at 3700.

And love the #71. Assuming it's the Carlin reference...

Hey Markus! I have some friends in your neck of the woods. One is an ex-pat American, the other is his girl, an ex-pat Norwegian. Both drive MX-5s. Another is also an ex-pat Yank with an e34 BMW and a stroked GM motor in it. Glad to see the membership expanding!
