I've been a lurker and semi-poster for a while but I just realized I never made an intro post. I'm Chris and I drive a 2006 Honda S2000 (autox) and a 2000 Mazda Miata (track). I started autox back in 2009 and was introduced to the track just months afterward. I attended 2 track days in the S2000 before realizing I needed a cheap alternative so I wouldn't damage the s2k which is when I got the Miata.

    Name: Chris
    Location: San Antonio, TX
Cars: 2000 Mazda Miata (track) and 2006 Honda S2000 (autox)
Tracks: Mazda Raceway Harris Hill (H2R), Texas World Speedway (TWS), Motorsport Ranch Houston (MSRH), and Hallett
Experience: Started in 2009. I'm a member out at H2R and stop by at least once a month. I go to track days around Texas every once in a while with different groups including NASA. I'm in the Yellow run group for the majority of them.

    Hi everyone,

This intro is quite long so here's the shortened version for those with ADHD - Moti, Miata, Blackbird Fabworx, hi!

Many of you guys already know me, been lurking here for quite some time but I promised Brett I'd stop lurking and post something
The name is Moti, and you'll find me posting on some forums as Blackbird.

Started tracking in 2001 with my 95 turbo Miata AKA the Blackbird and was very active until 2006 where life changed things quite a bit, you know, wedding, kids, house etc...
I've driven Buttonwillow in 5 different configs, SOW, WSIR, SRP, Portland intl, Thunderhill and Chuckwalla which is probably my favorite track.

After years of making my own stuff and wrenching on cars for fun and games I moved on to do things on the professional level, at first working in a well known Mazda race shop (Tri-point) and then independently in the last couple years as Blackbird Fabworx, offering quality performance fabrication services with an eye on chassis / body prepping and safety equipment for track use.

With this new-ish venture it was time to get back to the track for some driving too, building everyone else's car alone doesn't quite cut it for fulfilling the need to hit the speed crack pipe
You'll find me these days piloting my demo car around CA tracks, trying to follow the SpeedVentures Miata Challenge schedule.

The demo car is a 2002 Miata known as Creampuff, currently 1973 Lbs. with 1/2 tank of gas with a lot more still to come out.
Build highlights include partially seam welded tub with the A-pillar removed, an 18 point low hoop production style cage, custom body panels that allow a quick conversion from a 2 seater for demo rides to a single seater for timed sessions, properly installed safety equipment (yay!), Fat Cat Motorsports DA coilovers, 15x9 949 Racing 6uls wrapped with Nittos, big stickers to boost sex appeal and impress the neighborhood kids.
Oh yes, and bone stock engine.
    There she is -

    Giving a demo ride -

    In single seater mode -

    Currently lap times include -
Buttonwillow #13 @ 2:07.342 (first time on track, suspension nowhere near dialed in)
SOW @ 1:28.388 (first attempt at dialing in the suspension, not there yet)
Chuckwalla @ 2:04.459 (suspension getting better but corner weights were way off, won MC)
SRP @ 1:57.041 (suspension felt great, first time at this track, somewhat intimidated)
WSIR @ 1:39.272 (a bit disappointed with my own performance, need more seat time)
The weakest link is easily the driver, taking a 5 year break seems to have thrown me back a decade... gotta work on that

No, the cage is EP legal, but the engine, driveline, brakes and other important bits are basically a stock 2002 Miata with an estimated ~115 whp.
Very simple car in the mechanical sense of the build.

You're right, the ST2 car got pushed to the side for a while, just a question of how to spend the time - in the time that it'll take to finish everything in the ST2 car I can build 10 Miatas, so I took a tenth of that time and built myself one that I can drive at the track right now.
Makes sense from the business standpoint too, to have a demo car out there.

I haven't done much with the ST2 car in a while, but the car is here and it's already a roller, so hopefully I'll be able to get back to it soon enough and get it to the track.
I honestly can't wait, the thing is going to be a total riot.

Hi Guys, I just joined. Here's a little about me.

    Greg Greenbaum--
NASA National Time Trial (TT), Performance Touring (PT), and Super Touring (ST/STR) Director
    NASA National Medical Director
NASA SoCal TT and PT Director

I'm just dabbling in TT this year with other people's cars. I'm probably going to get a new car in the next 1-2 years and compete in ST2 or STR2.
I most recently competed seriously in the Midnight Oil Motorsports #241 BMW E36 M3 to win the 2011 SoCal TTS Championship
I've won five NASA TT and PT National Championships, and about 15 SoCal Regional Championships in various TT and race classes.

My name is Allan Hauser and I have a racing problem.
I have posted a few times around here so I figure I should give a proper intro.
I started out with NASA HPDE 1. Worked up from there. Got my comp liscense in 2010. Been raceing in SoCal SE30 ever since. I find myself thinking of racing much to often.

    Default Hello!

    So I should have done this before I first posted but;

    Name: Brendon Short
    Location: Altadena, CA
    Current Cars: 2005 T2 G35, 1975 VW Scirocco, 1988 VW Jetta GLI, 1971 Ford Capri,2008 Land Rover LR2, 1998 Volvo V70R
    Home Track: Buttonwillow

I've been around Motorsports all my life. I spent my childhood at RIR, Willowsprings, Holt Ville, Carlsbad, Buttonwillow, Laguna Seca.... Then in 1988 My father started racing with Cal Club in a 1970 ITB Ford Capri wining a few championships in the process. I've been doing HPDE's since 2000 in various cars. I got my SCCA regional license in 2005, driving a 1975 VW Scirocco; raced off and on until 2007 and took 3 years off. In 2010 I got my regional license again, driving a 2005 G35; I was fortunate enough to win the 2010 Cal Club T2 regional championship. I need more seat time in the current car and like most on this board if I could race cars for a living I would . I'm always at Buttonwillow, mainly because the racecar is stored there, so if you see the car parked outside the shop feel free to come by and say hi, hang out, or if you need a hand or space to fix some damage I'll be more than happy to help.

    Welcome.
It looks like the exhaust stream of the car in front is enough to cool down the SE30's
