    Hi all.

Name's Dean, and I usually drive an S2000 at the track, sometimes an Evo X. Met some of you at Horse Thief Mile, and it's nice to put some faces to the names.

I'm hoping to get a lot better in the coming year with your help!

Welcome. Leave the Evo at home and track the S2K. You will learn more about how to drive.

Already had one of these, but it was pretty damn vague...

    Name: Will Lopez
    Home: Pleasant Hill Ca
    Cars: '06 Mitsubishi Lancer
Home Track: Infineon is only 20min from my house, although I have not driven it.
Experience: Few AutoX, Some Karting, HPDE's
Favorite: Don't have one yet, but Laguna Seca was great!

Hi, I Purchased a car that drives itself... 06 Lancer Evo, never planning on attending the track with it. I wanted a fun AWD car to head up to Tahoe and back with. Headed out to BRP for an HPDE and was hooked from then.

I now want to sell the evo, but to be honest, what other car can I really drive down to BRP and smash around in then head up to S. Lake Tahoe for some snowboarding? Very few. With that said, I plan in 2011 to rent a Spec E30 or Spec Miata and hit up Thunderhill with an instructor, and do some more karting.

I have seen some of your cars out at events in BRP and THill but just never get around to saying hi. Hope to do more of that in 2011!

    Cheers,

    Will

I like volvos. The golden gate volvo club's track events are a sight to behold! Turbo wagons on slicks.

Did the volvo have the LF damage before or after tracking it?

Oops, n/m... the other pictures loaded.

I think I was at that one, but spent most of it laying up in the third floor of timing and scoring trying to recover from food poisoning the night before.

Ugh. That sucks. From what I heard, everybody did decently well. Not too often you see a Volvo at the track let alone only Volvos.

    Car: 2005 Lotus Elise
Experience: Handful of AutoXs and HPDEs

Even though I've had this car for 6 years now, I never really had the time to do many HPDE events. My last track experience was 2-3 years ago, so in terms of driving skill, I'm basically starting from scratch again. The car has barely been driven during the last 3 years due to work and school commitments. However, I'd like do 4-5 HPDE per year going forward.

The car is getting a few modifications soon (wheels, tires, coilovers, oil/fuel starvation fixes, toe links, wishbone bushings). Just couldn't help myself. I'm looking into which safety devices (harnesses, HANS, etc.) will provide added on-track safety in a car that is driven on the street primarily. Walking the line of street/track car seems difficult from a safety perspective...it's a compromise.

The rest of my budget will be spent on driver training and seat time, which is of course money better spent. Looking forward to learning and growing as a driver.

Welcome. How could you own that car for 6 years and not take it to the track regularly? You must have a lot of self control. Could you sleep in the same bed with Angelina Jolie and not touch her?

Thanks. Wasn't that hard actually...grad school + storing the car in another city. I gather that a lot of Lotus owners never track their car. Base suspension Elises are relatively comfortable for street only use. Anyway, I am coming to my senses slowly.
