    Too true!

An inside look at Rhys Millen's new Pikes Peak Unlimited racer [w/video] - Autoblog

"Unlimited" says it. It's all paved nowadays, but it still brings out some ultra brutal beasts in a lot of very interesting classifications:

    8:13.878
That's not a typo, it says EIGHT minutes, thirteen seconds and 878 thousands.
That is the new un-freakin-real record time that Seb set on the way up the mountain, crushing the old record by roughly a minute and a half.
    Holy $hit.

The road was paved for Millen and Tajima too, this is a whole different level of fast.
Average speed up the mountain was 146 KPH.. Peugeot built a time machine.

I know you guys have seen the old Peugeot record video from the 80's but it's such a great video and an amazing drive so here it is again.

With it paved the drivers aren't working it like this anymore.

That's a pretty big increase considering the quality of this years car and driver.

    Have you SEEN the course?
There must be ~50 hairpins in it.
The 87 MPH that Loeb averaged are well above the 79 MPH that Millen averaged in what is basically a PPIHC specially tuned DP.

I just don't know how guys can do that with all those idiots standing right next to the road - I'd flatly refuse to drive. I mean, wtf? I guess you have to blot them out in your mind.

And it's a real concern of mine, because I could totally whup Loeb's ass in my motorhome, although I'd probably need to unhitch the trailer first.

Loeb was not dialed back. Read the interviews, he said he drove the full course at the limit. He did say that he had considered running more conservative, enough to ensure the record but when he got in the car he decided to go all out.

They also said that the best projected time based according to all their data was an 8:15.
So they were all, including Loeb, quite surprised that he actually beat it.

Anyway, if I change my name to Sebastion, do I become a faster driver - just like Loeb and Vettle?

On the other hand, the guy doesn't blink - just like Vettel. So, maybe if I change my name and learn not to blink . . . . fame, fortune and super hot chicks?
