    Default New Boxster unveiled

Looks good to me and I don't think it has that stupid mechanical rear spoiler.

2013 Porsche Boxster unveiled with more efficiency, performance and maturity [w/video]

    Midlife crisis anyone?

I'm much more interested in the next Cayman. I suppose they will continue with the current Cayman line for another year, and then graft a roof on the new Boxster?

I couldn't afford to track a Porsche so my only hope would be as a street car and I'd prefer a convertible for that purpose. If I could afford to track/race a P-car, I'd prefer the Caymen.

    Spoiler still raises.

Like it except the front lights look a little G35 to me.

Yeah, they should have stuck with round headlights like the current Boxster and Cayman.

    That's a bummer.

I guess it's a sign of the times but in the video, the driver shifts and automatic.

Wow, that car is gorgeous IMO. Would love a Cayman model with a good diff, ~400hp, and some underbody aero. Someday...

Not sure about overall length but IIRC, the wheelbase is longer on the new ones. It definitely has shorter front overhang.

I see lots of Carerra GT in the new design. And that's a good thing.

It reminds me of the last-gen MR2 Spyder.

Hey now!!. My spyder will spank that car on a track.

Dont' forget that boxster is probably $70k and the spyder was $22K. You can get a lot of car for $50K.

Every track day I have been to at ACS at least one almost new Porsche has blown up. Must have all been driver error, right?.

When you see bits of $20K engine falling out of the rear of a car as it's being loaded on a trailer you realize there are much cheaper ways to go that fast. The last Porsche I owned was a 964. After that they got too expensive and complex for me to repair.

^^The Boxsters start at $50k for the base and about $60k for the S IIRC.

For the reasons you meantioned, including price of admission, I'll most likely never own a Porsche. With their engine issues, I'd be too afraid to buy used. At this point I'll be pretty happy to have an NC to cruise around in. Add an exhaust and coil overs and I'll be perfectly happy.

They nickle and dime you with options. Not hard to hit $70K with an S.

I have been disappointed with the NC. I have a 2010 Grand Touring. In stock form the handling is average. Way too soft. With coilovers the handing is very good but then it's no longer a great daily driver.

For me the S2000 was a better daily and a better track car at the same time.

For the price of a new NC you can also consider a used BMW Z4M roadster or coupe. The coupe is a rare car.

As much as I like the looks of the Z4 coupe, I want a convertible for an impractical DD. Plus, used late model German cars scare me. I don't doubt that the S2K is better but I'm a Mazda guy.

What kind of coil overs were you running? If I ever get an NC, I'll look at the AST double adjustables. I dig the AST made Xidas on my NB.
