We don't have a rule for mandatory data acquisition, although I would strongly encourage it so we can compare data. I recommend the AiM systems as they are most commonly used and I predict it becomes the defacto standard in Spec Corvette. Like all AiM products I assume the v1 and v2 Solos will be interchangeable on the data files.

The data format is all the same, it is just the collection method. All AIM data can be compared.

Absolutely. I will add you to the list. I will update you as I get more info regarding the actual delivery date. AiM will not be more specific than 'February' at this time.

First beta units are going to the track this weekend in the US. If all goes well, all signs point to mid Feb ship date.

The track test went well. There are some issues with race studio 3 that are being sorted out by the Italians. Still on track for mid-feb ship date but don't shoot the messenger.

I have been corrected by AiM and Jack. The Solo 2 DL has an rpm input signal, the Solo (non-DL) does not. That is an important feature even for non-CAN bus connected cars as it allows the use of shift lights. If you have submitted a request to be part of the group buy please check that you are getting the model with the features that you need.

I want to get the Solo 2 DL. I don't know if I need the RPM input with my C5 ODB2.

The original Solo DL picks up RPM from ODB2 so I assume this new unit does, too, but I would like to have the shift light feature.

Can someone clarify how version 2 will work differently vs. version 1? Specifically with a 99 Miata on a stock JDM ECU (due to competition class requirements)? What will the group pricing be respectively?

The final pricing is completely driven by the number of people who have committed to buy. The goal with this gb is to service the TrackHQ members and not the entire internet. Playing it forward for all that this forum and members have done for me.

The 1999 Miata ecu is pretty weak when it comes to can bus updates. It is Ok for things like coolant temp, not so good for rpm. As only the Solo2 DL has the rpm input, if shift lights, or logging rpm data is important, the DL would be the way to go. The DL also offers the ability to control a SmartyCam if that is of interest. If you are looking for a better version of he first gen Solo then stay with the Solo 2 (non-DL).

The NA and NB Miatas are OBDII, not CANBUS. You would have the option of OBD or the RPM coil. OBD does not output a fast enough frequency to use for rpm or tps, so my recommendation is the RPM coil, that would give you use of the shift lights.

What I don’t know is can you use OBD or CANBUS along side the RPM coil.
