Default Neat Video: NASA SU GT-R vs. New Edge Mustang

    Part1:

Pretty neat video of a 700+hp New Edge Mustang taking on a GT-R. Watch to see the outcome.

I still find it pretty crazy they're racing each other with traffic that's virtually standing still. It's sorta like something from Fast and the Furious???

WOW, the closing speeds are absolutely dangerous! Reminds me of when Jon and the GTR blew by me on the back straight at big willow in febuary.

    Default GTR ustangf

Those two guys need their own run group, with maybe F1 cars so they know how it feels to passed at double your speed.

Althought they did a great job of gettng through traffic, the GTR made a couple good passes in traffic but the Mustang ran off and hid on the open straights.

    I wish I had 700 hp.

Absolutely awesome, and some of the best on-board footage I've seen in a while. Really captures the sounds and the sensation of speed (granted, the it's hard not to capture a sense of speed at their pace!)

There was some scary stuff in there. Complete awesomeness though. Great race, congrats to Brian for bringing home the win.

Is it legal for that red Civic hatch to be running with his rear hatch window open?

^That, and adds a little downforce.

Thanks for posting vid. Who was sanctioning org.? NASA? Are these 2 cars in the same class (what class)?

The Mustang was way faster in the straights, but the driver was kind of sloppy, missing apexes and just kind of driving down the middle of the track. 700 hp and weighing a lot less than the the GT-R helped. GT-R really just drives itself through the corners. The GT-R driver was more skilled at passing in the corners. The Mustang got passed once coming onto the last straightaway for that reason.

Based on the info provided on the youtube link for the video... NASA was hosting this SU race. That's all I know lol.

Oh, and apparently the Mustang was making 500bhp, according to multiple comments on the video. The GT-R was making 420whp apparently, and is about 650lbs heavier (according to video author).

I agree, the Mustang was very sloppy in his braking it seemed and was all over the place, but then again there was so much traffic he may have been attempting to think ahead of himself. Regardless, I love this video. Good clean racing

It allows the airflow to expand into the wheelwells a bit easier which creates a little more downforce. It also allows more air into the wheelwells to cool the tires and brakes. Remember all it takes to create downforce is to allow a small volume of air a large volume of space to expand into.

IMO the GTR was simply a better car everywhere on the track. On-line I think the mustang may have even been faster then the GTR, but in traffic the GTR was clearly the better car.

one would hope so, especially with all the hype and effort that has been put into the "supercar" and it's enthusiasts.

not to mention the money lol. and, as richard and others pointed out, the technology put into making sure that car drives itself.
