I don't think the manure option is going to happen either. The office fields calls occasionally from wives of racers..."Is the smell gone yet?" "Is it going to smell as bad this year as it did last year when my husband was racing there?"
That's part of my point. It smells bad anyway, why not let your soil get some benefit from the bad smell.

I agree. There might be something out there that's free or close to it that could make a big difference.

not sure who was there, but couple of years ago I arrived seeing a big burning pile next to the track. They were walnut (or almond ?) husk pile (we are talking about mountains) that burned down at SE corner of Lerdo Highway exit and 5. Fire raged whole weekend.

so we do know there are a plenty of walnut husk right next to BRP.

That's really all I remember too. Huge piles of shells/husks were on fire along the east side of the 5 right at Lerdo highway. You could see the glow at night from the BRP paddock.

The easiest way is to safety car/black flag a session for dust clouds. Pretty soon, people will keep their wheels on the pavement.

Remember the Austrian GP this year? With the giant kerbs, and during practice and qualy everyone as saying "we must do something, it is breaking all the cars!!!"
Nothing was done and you know what? In the race, once drivers knew the cost, not a single car DNF'd for broken suspension.

That has its own problems. If you tell someone to keep a car on track at all costs, expect more tank slappers and cars collected.

...or if there is a big gap to the car in front of me I can run four off, create a huge cloud and catch-up when the safety car comes out.....

Here's my GTS3 race. The first four minutes are vaguely interesting going from P4 to P1 and playing in dust clouds. After that it's just lapping, not very quickly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x69a386D6fc
I didn't realize that was you pitted across from me.
Funny how I try to get what ever draft I could off you @ 29:51.. Then almost rear end you @30:04. Well I didn't get that close. I just panicked. Hit the brakes after the crest and got a little out of shape.

It is a good idea to walk or bike the track and observe the skid marks and the trajectory of the cars that go off. We try to do this at every track we go to as it helps us anticipate what is going to happen when a car goes off irrespective of whether dust is involved. This info is useful in predicting where to go when the dust obscures everything or when a car spins in front of you. For example at Willow, dust in T9 is often a problem. Knowing that the tendency of cars that go off in t9 is to spin to the inside means that the outside line is the safer bet. Doesn't always hold true of course but it is the percentage play.

According to the rules you were up along side the other car. Any good racing a pass is tough and all areas of a track can be a tough passing spot. I agree that is a difficult and risky area to pass, but the NASA rules don't talk to the issue of risk only the protocol for passing.

Gian, did you guys hit? I couldn't tell from watching on my phone if it was the curb or a collision or both.

You had a great run on Dan, closed the gap quickly.
