Default NASA western states championships 2016

surprised no one posted up anything.......There were a ton of Trackhq'ers racing, including our head honcho, Brenda.

There were at least 10 podiums by Trackhq'ers that I know of....

Here is my in-car race video from the NASA Championship race on October 16, 2016. It was great ST2 racing at the front of the pack with the three Corvettes of Chuck Mathews, Adrian Wlostowski and Oli Thordarson. I was leading the race with some good nose to tail racing up to the point we came across the gnarly crash of Bob Kahn's ST1 Corvette and the AI Mustang of Paul Wimmers exiting "Riverside," the fastest turn on the track. Chuck made the ballsy move (at minute 12:30 of the video) of flying into it and he took the lead just before the standing yellow flags and pace car came out. It turns out that was the defining moment of the ST2 championship race. Kudos to Chuck for some great driving and overcoming some car issues in the two prior days, and to young Adrian who made the longest haul of any racer to come from New York.

    141 MPH? !!!!!

Pretty "daring" group these NASA boys. You drove into a smoke screen to take the lead, and he drove into a dust cloud to take it away. Hope you guys are cats with 9 lives!

    Impressive driving none the less.

I was already in the lead for about 8 laps. The wrecked Corvette is a ST1, I am classed ST2.

Very risky move. I think that is how norris and I came together.

I thought Corvettes didn't need no stinkin' classes.

Or was that glasses for the old men that drive them? I forget.

I was busy all weekend. Video to come. I finished mid pack in SM, but James Brown and I mixed it up pretty well. Huge fun.

I definitely see a waving flag exiting Riverside (second before Chuck passed you). you sure that ain't a waving yellow ?

it doesn't make sense if it isn't a waving yellow. what other waving flag can it be ? can't be waving green (aint lap 1), can't be waving black. there is no emergency vehicle on track so not a waving white flag thingie.

I couldn't tell from the video what color the waving flag was either but that pass was a suspect move in my book. I watched the NASA feed all weekend and was getting excited trying to figure out how to get back into racing then I see this and think maybe it isn't for me. You could tell the passing car did not know where the spun car was because he suddenly steps on his brakes when he sees it off to the side.

From a rules perspective, if the corner worker in Riverside was not waving yellow, is the expectation for Oli to keep racing blind through the dust cloud? That seems pretty aggressive.

I asked the question before, what could it be other than waving yellow ? you can clear see the corner worker waving a flag (just can't tell the color). you can also tell from the size of dust cloud that it wasn't just started seconds ago, so I doubt corner worker would of missed it.

I am pretty sure Oli is too nice (for those of you that knows Oli) to point it out, and Chuck didn't see it. but Oli should of gotten the win (had he said something about it)
