Default Miata Challenge Mod Wheel Specs

I am new to the forum and I am hoping to participate in the SV hosted Miata challenge. One of my first purchases will be wheels, most likely a set of 6UL from 949, I am unsure if I should purchase a set of 15x8 or 15x8.5. Does anyone have input on what people normally run in mod class? It seems like mod and super mod is where all the competition is and I don't want to buy a set of wheels for street class then to have to immediately upgrade once I get to mod.

    I don't think 949 offers a 15x8.5 , maybe you're confusing with 7.5?

Go for 9s if you can points wise. IIRC 7-8" are the same points so go with at least 8s.

you're right there isn't a 8.5 not sure where I got that from probably just brain blipped on the rules for mod where 8.5+ are all the same points.. So would you run a 225 on the 9 or something else? I was looking at RS3s and Rivals

Depending on how you spread your points.
Feel free to share, many of the SV MC guys are happy to share info and have been there and done what you're looking to do, so you can get valuable input.

Build the car on paper, add up your virtual points and decide whether you want to run eight or nine inch wheels. Super mod it's all about nine inch wheels. But a strong case could be made for 8 inch wheels in mod using that extra point for say, power.

Aside from their cost I never understood why people race them.
But obviously I just dont get it. -fatbillybob

I'm currently running MCMOD in my NC and did exactly what Emilio recommended which is build the car on paper first and see where you want to spend the points. I am running 17x8 with 215/45-17 RS3's for my MC setup (and 17x9 for HPDE non-MC days). If you can run the 15x9 with 225's then that would be better.
