    Default McLaren "extended test drive"

A few weeks ago I was invited by McLaren to go on an "Extended test drive" with their 650S, and today was the day we set it up. I have to say, it is an extremely nice car! 650 HP twin turbo, 3000 lb car that does 0 to 60 in 2.9 seconds. Unfortunately it was just street driving, but still, very nice of them to make the offer. I would love to get one of these out on the track.... Or into my garage. Here is a picture from the event... I wish I took some better shots.

The headlights look like curly fries . . .

Too bad cars like this don't come with a stick shift and clutch pedal.

To be honest, I don't know. I have no idea how I got on the list.... But I hope they ask me back next year.

I didn't like the headlights in pictures , but in person they look good. Regarding the paddle shifters.... There is a huge difference between a paddle shifted manual transmission and a paddle shifted automatic transmission. I don't like driving Paddle shifted automatics (like Corvettes)... But I love driving paddle shifted manual transmissions ( like McLaren, Ferrari, Audi R8). In fact I prefer a paddle shifted manual over a stick shift.

Some company had to have sold his information on recent purchases. Credit card companies do it all the time.
If nothing happens and there is no one around why did it not happen?

I drove one on the ACS infield for a while. Incredible car and very easy to drive.

    Charley:

I've driven 12c. good car, but nothing compares to a 458. plus it is so unreliable.

I recommend you try Exotic Racing out of ACS. you can drive 98% on a 1.2 mile "track", tops out at about 120mph. Their ACS facility don't have 12c anymore, because it broke down so much. but I believe their Vegas location has a 650s. I heard it still breaks down a lot (heard only thing worse is Aventador)..

I actually saw that Tesla chassis at a Tesla store in a local mall. I was mostly surprised to find a Tesla store in a mall, which looked not unlike an Apple store. Disgusting. In any case, the chassis was a very interesting piece of work.

Yes, but does Tesla make anything worth caging?

Jokes aside, modern electric cars make ICE powered cars seem as old as steam powered vehicles from two centuries ago.

How do they "govern" driver inputs?

I don't quite understand what you meant. they do have an "instructor" with his own brake pedal as passenger to reel you in.

BUT....there are 2 Trackhq'ers working as instructorse (Sonny and Mike Kang), make sure you ask for them....They pretty much let you drive to 101% if they know you.........

oh, and a $40 tip (standard is $20) helps too....

Buying a Radical would probably be a good start.
