    Default mazda ceo:speed3 too childish

“As a brand we are trying to elevate again a little bit more, because execution of Mazda MPS or Mazdaspeed3 or whatever you call it was a little bit – I am not afraid to say it – childish,” said Moro, CEO of North America Mazda

As a previous speed3 owner, I have no idea what he's talking about.
    Very disappointed at Mazda now.
I'm not surprised one day he could call miata "boring" and "slow" since bmw/porsche never makes 100hp cars.

Hmm, definitely doesn't sound like an enthusiast. At least not to the level of other guys I've met at MNA. Or is it NAM?

It's a clunky way to put it. Realignment is constant in the auto industry.

Mazda is well outside the top 10 in terms of production (#15). That makes it difficult to compete on price when you need volume. Demographics shift (or sometimes it’s simply a miss) and that means realignment. I think a great alignment could be between something like the Golf and A3/S3.

Hopefully this doesn’t mean another g-- d--- crossover. The last thing the world needs is another [bleep]ing crossover.

The child in me is pretty giggly when I take my wife's speed3 every now and again.

I wouldn't take one word spoken offhand in one interview too harshly. Obviously it wasn't considered in advance. The real question is where they are going next.

Too childish? You can take your "grown up" sports cars and shove them up your ass. Any car that is designed to be fun to drive is a toy, so avoiding being childish is fooling yourself. As driverless cars take over it will become even more clear that drivers cars/track cars/race cars are all toys so we might as well embrace it. The have always been toys anyway. Don't make them less childish, just make them better toys. (Rant over)

I am sure Masahiro Moro is a wonderful gentlemen will continue to support Mazda's racing legacy.

Europe Mazda calls "mazdaspeed" as "MPS" such as "Mazda 6 MPS".

I don't get the idea why he calls it "childish". What about GTI?
VW's GTI is top5 best selling sports car in North America. GTI sells way more than ND and 86/BRZ, being One of the most successful import sporty cars. Should VW call their GTI "childish" since it's a golf with 18-inch rims and red stripes?

New Mazda 3 has a great chassis. I'm sure it will handle well if there is a mazdaspeed version with practicality and 5 doors.

Just curious. Did you get the stolen car back, or did you find a replacement? Regardless, I always considered the Speed 3 to be one of the all-time great, fun family cars.

I would think that Mazda would like to have a 'speed3 to compete with the likes of Subaru's WRX, especially now that Mitsubishi no longer offers the Evo. Sure seems like there's some off-the-shelf AWD hardware that might sweeten the package.

The car was found a day and a half later only 2-3 miles away from where it was stolen, virtually untouched in any way, shape or form other than a dead clutch.
Whoever stole the car could not drive stick and burned the clutch up trying to figure it out and then ended up abandoning the vehicle when they could not do it.
Insurance had the local dealer putting in a new factory clutch and FW and that was it.
