Great news! I have always loved Alfas, although I have never owned one. Montreal is my favorite, but I also lust after the late 60s to mid 70s GTV and the GT-V6 that followed it. This will give the Miata a soul.

Do "soul" mean: hardly ever runs and makes you question god directly?

If so, I'll skip the soul and settle for some spicier color options.

Aside from their cost I never understood why people race them.

Based on what I've seen from past "collaborations," I'd still opt for the Mazda car. The Alfa will be far sexier, but in response to that I refer you to the quote in Rob Burgoon's footer.

Haha. They think the Solstice and S2000 were built to compete with the Miata. The Spyder was meant to be marketed to the Miata segment, but at 5,000 units a year in the US, it was never meant to "compete" with the Miata, let alone usurp it.
I think it's an interesting collaboration. I think it's going to churn out an ND Miata with a lower displacement motor, hideous body work and 5/10 interior, all other things identical. Mark my words!

But this car is soooo pretty:

I wouldn't mind the ND taking some visual queues from this.

Oh, I get it, but I can't help myself. I'm German. I am genetically predisposed to value reliability over flair.

    RWD Fiat 500.

The back seats in that car are useless anyway.
