    Default Maxxis RC1 (100TW R-comp) video

Surprised this hasn't been posted yet...

    Emilio makes a cameo

    copy pasta from another forum.

As with any R-comp, the tire does slowly heat cycle out. I used my test set under what I would consider fairly "typical" use for R-comps: driving to and from the track, a few canyon runs, and mostly on-track driving.

I believe the RC1 will be sold through distributors, but the easiest way to get the tire is directly from maxxis at Welcome to Maxxis RC-1 | Maxxis Victra RC-1.

The tire is EXCEEDINGLY easy to drive. It makes noise as you approach the limit, just like a typical street tire. It'll scream as you go past the limit. BUT, the tire has the grip of a R-compound, both under cornering and braking, and takes summer heat rather well. It gives you a much wider window of opportunity to put down a fast lap compared to a street tire, or a peaky tire like the R888. The sidewalls offer a great amount of feedback, so you know exactly how the road conditions are; it's comparable to the NT01 in this aspect as well

Street driving, the tire was completely unexpectedly quiet. NT01 and R888 generate a significant amount of white noise, but the RC1 was similar to a RS3. In this regard, the TD is deafeningly loud.

In the rain, I couldn't get enough heat into the tire to generate the optimal amount of grip. We were rained out of a few test days, and I would not recommend it. In light snow + freezing temps (yes, I was tracking on this tire, and it was dusting), I was still able to get enough heat into the tire to set the current SoWS record for the platform (FR-S/BRZ in this case).

I tested it back to back at BRP. NT01 vs. RC1
I won't go technical on it, I am not that good anyway. but in short:

it behaves like NT01, except RC1 prefers cooler weather than NT01.

<70F, RC1 is a faster tire with more grip.
    >90F, NT01 is a faster tire. RC1 drops off earlier.

Great video and marketing. The BRZ looks good, Mike. Will you be selling the RC1 through CSG?

Has Emilio done a review yet on the RC1, and in comparison to the NT01?

How much faster are we talking, one second on a 2 minute course? Which do you think has the edge between 70 and 90 degrees?

Maxxis is selling the tire directly via Welcome to Maxxis RC-1 | Maxxis Victra RC-1 . No plans to sell directly... but I do have Ryan's Rivals sitting at the warehouse looking for a new owner...

I ran my fastest time in the BRZ at SoWS while it was dusting snow at SoWS...

Emilio did a review on RC1, not sure where to find one.

as for faster, it is more like 1/2 second on a 2 minutes course. this is similar to Starspec vs. RS3. Starspec has advantage in cooler weather, RS3 has advantage in warmer weather. I can't quantify the difference in mild weather. too close to call.

So, here in mostly hot SoCal, NT01s still sound like a better choice. I'm always happy to see new choices.

    LOL.

I don't want to take credit for doing it, as it was done by a good friend of ours. Some one mentioned he looked like Jesus (John Turtorro), then this happened.

    Accompanied by:

"Tso I wahs triving behin' dis slo azz gringo, an da chingao tries to dis me by takin' MY line. I was like...no me importe holmes, y pegar la gas petal 'n TAKE my line back from da *****. Try to cho me how to trive? I'll fukkin tro down and difebomb yo ***** ass...pendejo."

Has Emilio ever considered being Jesus (from Lewbowski) for Halloween? That would be hilarious!

Funny and its not embarrassing but I'm sure the image will be taken out of context and potentially affect my business adversely. I'd ask that we not share it. No more than any of you would want a photoshopped image of you that might harm your professional life circulated on fb.
