And this guy is not alone. I wonder how many accidents have been caused by morons who are more focused on their extreme video more than they are about driving their cars?

There is no end to the idiotic street racers I've seen in the Malibu canyons. Car, motorcycles or bikes. A scooters too. Seeing this just Confirms that they are all over. I've been run off the rode by a Honda CRX crossing the line into my lane. Then didn't even stop.
I'll admit, I probably could have made it. But I was all ready set and turning in and when I saw the grill of the CRX. I squealed like a ***** and grabbed a hand full of brake. Low sided. Minor damage. But still was pissed. Probably good thing he didn't stop.
That's not a Typo, I just can't spell no so well.

I'm not normally one to side with law enforcement or insurance companies, but when you post a video like that -- and then file a $20-30K insurance claim -- shouldn't there be consequences?

Such as? Probably needs a solid violation of the terms. "Exuberant" driving is still covered I think.

The cops and lawyers probably don't care about youtube unless someone gets seriously injured or killed.

he needs to stop buying bimmers. What he needs is a civic and learn to drive. Actually, he just needs to stop driving cars period. His 2nd chances are up after his 4th wreck. If you wreck 4 times in one year, you should get some sort of instaban from driving privileges. Suck at driving...stop...just stop...

It's a shame how many people think they are the coolest things on the planet because they can go squeal their tires on some backroad. This douche bag is the epitome. In the motorcycling world, there are similarly minded people who treat public roads like their own personal tracks, but Darwinism usually singles them out quickly. In a car unfortunately, these guys bounce around in their airbag-cushioned interior and hardly learn any lesson at all. Evident by the fact that he somehow thinks that all this is cool, and he put together a whole edited montage complete with clear shot of his face, all his illegal driving antics, and the wreck. He'll be back to do it again I'm sure.

On a related note, Sportbike riders who last and continue to ride for years to come all develop some form of The Pace, which maximizes enjoyment of a road while minimizing risk: LINK You can apply almost everything there to spirited driving in a car too. Maybe a car-version needs to be made and published, I'm sure most non-riders haven't ever seen that, and most people I know who do go out to the twisties, even if they aren't driving-while-douchey like the guy in the video is, make a lot of mistakes that you'll avoid if you practice The Pace..

Don't the DMV and Police do this when you keep getting points on your record? I would think that 4 accidents in 1 year would put you over the line.

Personally, I'd like to see this forum not share so many canyon racing videos. More views promotes the moronic showboating that leads to these accidents. Maybe there are young lurkers here that think it's cool.

I've been hit head on by someone (uninsured of course) racing down a canyon on the wrong side of the road. Two days in the hospital, a totaled motorcycle, permanently damaged left wrist and hand. So yah, I have a special place in my heart for these selfish idiots.
