Saw this a couple minutes ago on Autoblog. Damn scary.

Impressed by the safety systems in the BMW but a definite reminder of why you don't drive like an idiot on those types of roads. I'm in SoCal, no shortage of temptation on roads like that in Malibu.

Hopefully he can't afford another car. It would suck to be in the oncoming lane when this idiot does it again.

^^^ Why do you have such a hard-on for BMWs? They are good cars, although they have become very heavy, expensive and overly laden with useless luxury doo-dads. I could see buying an M3 one day, assuming it is still available with a stick. I liked my '95 E36 M3 a lot.

Neat how the side curtain kinda acts like a window net.

Yeah definitely. Notice how it deploys as the car is in mid-air. Maybe if you're over 10 degrees of roll, it's pretty much a sure thing you're going to be shiny side down.

yeah that side curtain airbag saved his head and limbs from serious injury. That noob. Did he not see that sign with the speed limit (15mph)...and there he goes flying into it at 45mph+...-____- Never drive like that on a road you don't know. In fact don't drive like an idiot on these type of windy roads period. Gonna get someone or yourself killed.

If he didn't turn in so early, he would have made it...barely...on the opposite lane, but at least he wont go flying off the cliff. He shouldnt be going that fast anyway even if he did early apexed. Braking 50ft earlier and more trailbrake would have helped. After I saw that steering angle, I knew he was gonna fly off.

Just found the original footage. Gives you a nice look at his behavior/driving characteristics and style.

I'm starting to think the quality of his driving eroded with his concern for the "extremeness" of the footage he was getting.
