I hated it until I saw one. To me they aren't that bad looking in person and they are extremely practical 4 seaters. The Maserati is as well, but let's face it, most people don't cross-shop those cars unless they only care about their appendage extension. They drive entirely differently (and were built to do so, really).

I do think it will eventually lead to Porsche pulling the Cayenne from the lineup, though... which isn't a bad thing.

I don't think that's what Porsche was shooting for, nor is it the reason its customers (a few of them anyway) buy them.

McDonald's sells billions of Big Macs. That doesn't make them good.

Panamera is definitely pretty fugly. From the front it looks great, (if you like the 911) but from profile or rear . I think its a creative abortion.

Perhaps it fills a niche market of people that want to spend way too much on a sedan, much like the Cayenne fills the void of overpriced mid-sized SUV.

Don't get me wrong, the Cayenne is great for what it is, but does not justify its price tag new, IMHO.

I have not driven the Panamera, and therefore cannot offer any additional insight, but most will agree its awkward looking, at minimum.

Has anybody driven one yet? Is it a piggy?

If this thing didn't have a Porsche badge on it, more people would probably accept it as a 'decent' car. It's not Porsche's finest performer or looker, but they did it to expand their market share not to please hardcore enthusiasts. Which can be seen as selling out. But as long as they continue to make money so they can churn out GT3 RS's, I don't give a crap about the Panamera being produced

I don't like the looks of it, either. However, I heard it is the fastest 4 door around the 'Ring.

Actually, it would be "We're no. 1."
