Default The Latest Automotive Atrocity - Porsche Panamera

This comes from an article about the 15 worst automotive atrocities of all time, including the Yugo, Cadillac Cimmaron, AMC Gremlin, Pontiac Aztek, etc. etc. I agree. The Panamera is fugly and dilutes the Porsched brand (to the extent it was not fully diluted by the Cayene).

    Porsche Panamera 2009-present

The verdict is still out, but we nominate the Porsche Panamera as a future automotive atrocity. Is it an exceptionally capable luxury sedan? Of course. But like the Cayenne before it, the Panamera is an anathema to Porsche purists. With four doors and room for four suitcases in the trunk (a trunk! In the rear!) the Panamera has already been ruthlessly mocked by 13-year-old boys and 911-owners alike. If, over time, it proves to dilute the overall brand for the sake of immediate sales, it will be enshrined as a true automotive atrocity.

Ugly as hell, but someone just managed 21th overall in a 100% stock Panamera at One Lap, beating more than a few modified Z06s and M3`s.

Not that it takes anything away from the ugly / overweight / overcomplicated argument.

    I can just hear the cheers at Porsche AG -- "We're No. 21; We're No. 21; We're No. 21!!!"

I like it. If I were in the market for something like that, probably never will be, I'd buy it over the usual suspects.

If the usual suspects are the Aston Martin Rapide and the Maserati Quattroporte, then the Panamera is a distant third for me.

Sorry Richard I like it and once you get next to one you will like it too, just go to Cars and Coffee or VCR and check one out. I think it's the only lux sedan that has a 4000 pound towing capacity, just enough to tow a GT3 RS.
If nothing happens and there is no one around why did it not happen?

I have seen several on the street, and was pacing one on the Coast Hiway the other day. (I work in Malibu). I think it is butt ugly and that Porsche really laid an egg on this one.

Thankfully, Ferrari will never make a 4-door sedan or SUV.

The back of it looks kind of like an egg or AMC Pacer... I am not sure which....

And that's a pic (see OP) that was taken from the Porsche Cars official website where they try to make the cars look as good as possible.

Really is a horrific looking car, and yes I've seen many of them in person, wandered around one, etc.

There's also some kind of safety recall on the thing for a malfunctioning seatbelt if you are under a certain height. Might be a problem for a few people on here

I haven't seen the Aston in person so I can't comment on it but I'd take the Panamera over the Maserati, Audi S8, BMW 7XX, MB AMG S6X. I think the Porsche is more interesting. I haven't driven any of them and, as I mentioned earlier I won't be in the market anytime soon if ever, so I'm basing my opinion on very little research.

Ok the back looks like an AMC Pacer

But the car is unique it's not a radical change say like what Bangle did with BMW (btw I liked all of thoes cars). Just what is a Porsche suposed to look like? People who go for Porsches are like Harley owners, they want everything that is a Harley but none of the change that modern times brings with it. They want it to peform better but they want it to look like a Harley, and the same goes for Porsche owners

They have to add range to there product or they won't be in business for long.

The Porsche Panamera is an ugly automobile.

That said if I had to drive a few friends to Salt Lake City in a hurry, it's probably the one I would.. ah.. no, still to f'in ugly.

    Two comments:
    1. That one in the photo has been lowered to a height that will:
      • Make the ride unbearable
      • Ruin the handling
    2. That is the less ugly end of the car
