Default Last of the Manuals -- Collector and Dream Cars . . .

I have been thinking about collecting more of the last great manual gearbox and clutch pedal sports cars.

    Cars I probably can't afford:

Ferrari F430 (as far as I know, the last Ferrari with a stick)

    Porsche 997 GT3 RS (the last GT3 with a manual other than 997 GT3 4.0 -- what a travesty)

    Cars I probably can afford:

996 base Coupe (not the last of the manuals, but the last affordable one at this point in time)

Chevy C5 Z06 (also not the last, but a great example of the breed)

Car I'm on the fence about financially:

C6 Z06 (it's not fair to lump GM in with Ferrari and Porsche, because as far as we know, the C7 Z06 will be available with a stick)

    Other random manual dream cars:

    1961 Lotus Elite (not affordable)

Late 60s to early 70s Alfa Romeo GTV (affordable)

    Ferrari F40 (you gotta be kidding . . .)

    1967 Toyota 2000GT (kidding again . . .)

1971 Lamborghini Miura SV (kidding x3)

Mazda 3rd Gen. RX-7 FD (affordable)

In case you can't tell, I really like yellow sports coupes . . .

The 1 series M, M5 with the V10, 997 GT2 RS and the Carrera GT if you have a death wish.

If nothing happens and there is no one around why did it not happen?

As much guff as you give Amir, and you have an FD on this list? Is that so you have a car that never leaves the garage?

FD is a great car, one of the most beautiful sports cars ever. But it is FRAGILE. The engine compartment is just stuffed with twin turbo plumbing and such. When stressed, heat is a real problem. I would not take it on track, but I'd love to have one to drive around the street.

I believe the F10 M5 also came in a 6-speed and the last Ferrari with a manual would be the ugly California ($170k for a 2011):

I think a Porsche GT3 will have the most appreciation over its lifetime from the list you provided, though i think 997 variants are seeing six figure price tags still.

550 Maranello!!! Last Ferrari model line of 12 cylinders to all be manuals. Easy 500hp most reliable 12 cylinder Ferrari berlinetta ever built with classic Ferrari gated shifter. Same Lineage as the famous unobtainable 275GTB with Pininfarina styling. Think 275GTB on steroids...

Datsun 240Z in mexican orange. I actually think that was the name of the color not trying to be derogatory. By Brother has one he might sell.

Richard, don't forget the 2012-2013 Boss Mustangs. Awesome cars. They ONLY came with manuals.
