Default Interesting photo on BaT's Facebook page

Kind of obvious when you put them side by side, but I'm glad they did.

NSX looks almost miata-sized in those. And boy does the NSX look good from behind.

My usual reaction when I encounter one on track is "Good god, that's even bigger than an Evo!"

Tires react well to increased vertical forces vs lateral ones. Acceleration improves the most with weight loss (within traction limit).

An NSX weighs 2976 lbs., and the first gen like I have had 270 bhp (although many think the bhp was underrated by Honda to avoid Japanese limitations at the time). It has a rudimentary traction control system that can be turned off, rear wheel drive, a 5-speed manual gearbox (1st gen), 15" front wheels, 16" rear wheels, and a manual steering rack. The NSX cost $65,000 in 1992. You can tell that the white NSX in the photo is an early one (1991 - 1994) because it has a black top.

A GT-R weighs about 3800 lbs. and has 480 bhp, or 530 bhp (2012 model), or 545 bhp (2013 model). It has all wheel drive, every electronic nanny imaginable, 20" wheels all around, and a no clutch pedal gearbox. It costs about $90,000 today.

One other interesting point. Inflation from 1992 to 2011 totalled 61.4%, according to US government statistics. Therefore, in today's dollars, a 1992 NSX would have cost about $105,000. Whatever you want to say about the GT-R's size and weight, it is a relative bargain for the performance levels it provides.
