Default Indy 500 -- Root for Townsend Bell!!

    Hi all,

Just wanted to start a discussion thread about the Indy 500 this weekend. As some of you know my dad is a race engineer professionally, and he is doing a one-off race this month (the Indy 500) with PKV Racing running drivers Paul Tracy, Mario Moraes, and Townsend Bell. My dad will be the race engineer for Townsend Bell during the 500. Townsend and my dad have worked together extensively before, the highlight being when they won the IndyLights championship together in 2001 with Doricott Racing.

Qualifying: Mario Moraes qualified 7th, Paul Tracy 13th, and Townsend Bell 24th.

The final day of practice is Carburetion Day, this Friday May 22nd. I believe this will be televised.

Be sure to tune in to the race this Sunday!

I was going to race my #22 Indy car this weekend, too, but I decided to stay home and clean the pool. Summer is almost here.

Townsend was my first driving instructor, back in the days of the USC/UCSB car clubs and pre-west coast NASA with JWL and Flaherty.

Too bad he didn't make it in F1.

Thanks dude! Considering it was a one-off race with a small team, finishing 4th is like a win to them.

I am a noob at the round thing.

tracking out to the right on to the front straight, why do they weave left towards infield, than back out to the right again to take the next corner ? that's a long way around.

^my guess would be the aero dynamic turbulance from being close to the wall causing drag and/or instability....but i could be wrong
