Googled Jack Olsen as well and first thing I noticed was that pictures didn't seem to match and then noticed that particular Jack Olsen is dead.

Either way, unless the books are really good, Track HQ's Jack will now be known in my mind for his excellent car/garage philosophy.

Yeah, was just thinking maybe the parents named him after the original cause they knew he'd be a "rock star"! ;-)

I couldn't help but notice that even many of the tools look like they come from the same time period as the chassis of the car. Nice touch.

    Thank you, guys.

The other Jack Olsen was a very nice guy. We knew each other from getting crossed emails occasionally. After he did a book on Gypsy scams in San Francisco, I got a vitriol-filled email filled with threats from a Rumanian person. He sent me a copy of his Geronimo Pratt book. He also owned three pre-1974 911s in his liftetime. I think he sold the last one in 1976 when the national speed limit was lowered to 55.

    Very nice guy.

I do mostly uncredited work on movies. It's not very glamorous, but it's a living.

Nice feature on a really nice car. I remember reading about your homemade wing on corner-carvers.

Normally with features like these, I get bored rather quickly and end up skipping through the video. But this one was different and before I knew it, it was over. Really enjoyed watching it. Love the car and the whole garage setup and theme. Good stuff man!

This video really reflects the quality of your car, your driving, and your 12 guage sanctuary: a trinity of perpetual accomplishment.

Bravo! A thing done well is a joy to behold!

    Very nice video Jack.
    Magnus meets Supercuts quality.

Perhaps Videos like this could someday replace traditional Magazine features.

    Thanks.

There's a lot of ways in which the internet does stuff worse than magazines used to. But I think these little clips are pretty cool -- somethings photographs and text capture in a very different way.

This one was done by someone else at the same site. If you're old enough to have kids, this one might even get you a little bit emotional. I know my allergies acted up just a little at the end. Or I had some dust in my eye. Or something.

If anybody's got a father out there, then this one is worth sending.

The front has JRZ single-adjustable shocks. But we cut up and changed some of the geometry on the stock A arms. Rubber bushings were replaced with monoballs. An ERP front end would be much better (and infinitely adjustable), but that stuff's really expensive.

In back, the trailing arm mounting points were raised slightly and the spring plates are ERP. The shocks in back are just off-the-shelf Bilsteins, so that's my opportunity for improvement. Again, I didn't have the money for Turbo trailing arms or the more-adjustable race stuff.

Other than that we swapped torsion bars for coil springs and put in stiffer sway bars.

Great Video, Jack, and a well deserved tribute to your driving and mechanical prowess.

    Congrats!
