    Proportions are off.
If that thing is supposed to have a mid-front engine and RWD, the cabin and driver seat are much too far forward, or upright or both.

The bulge in the hood suggests the motor will be well forward of the axles.

Toyota just needs to make another MR2. But, at this point I'm worried they'd just screw it up.

    I actually kinda like it.

I'd never buy it, but I think it's small and funky enough to sell at least three examples in the United States, all in that color, and all to be used as tenders for Avalons.

I kinda like it too. It's funky and it sorta reminds me of a modern Opel GT, that's a good thing in my book. I'd buy an ND before I bought one of these but I'm all for small, light, rwd, inexpensive cars even if they aren't particularly pretty. As a Toyota, should be reasonably reliable.

Side profile is hideous. Front and rear isn't too bad.

I just realized there were other pictures. It looks like the engine will actually be entirely behind the front axle. Good. 2,160 lbs, 130hp. I heard elsewhere that this would sell for around $20,000. With specs similar to the ND, and a price tag $10,000 less expensive, this car could not fail. It's basically an MR2 Spyder with the motor in the front--and somehow even uglier. But, people like ugly these days.

^^ND starts at $25, I'm guessing the $20k won't be the loaded version of the Toyota.

Looks like a ugly modern version of the Opel GT. Anyone for the puke yellow ?

I like it because it's a coupe. I'm tired of convertibles.

I don't really think Toyota will sell this car in the US. If they did I would buy one.

You see the classic Toyota s800 resemblance.

That makes a lot is sense. Mazda builds it with the Skyactiv 1.5 that comes in the JDM NDs and they call it a Scion. Similar to what they are doing with the Mazda2 Scion.

That would be nice, but the wheel base on this car is significantly longer than the ND. I'm also betting it'll have Mcpherson strut in the front, because Toyota.

The ND platform makes a lot more sense than developing one just for this car. Toyota and Mazda are already working together on projects so the platform sharing becomes more likely. I don't know how Toyota could build a longer car with lower weight than the ND and make it cheaper. I'll guess they'll stick with the ND wheelbase to keep things simple. Pure speculation but this could be the "Miata" coupe many have been asking for.

Seriously if you are Mazda would you let another company build a Miata coupe, price it lower, offer 3 years free service, and free financing forever?

If I was buying a track car I would buy the coupe specially with an interior that looks like this.

Interestingly the dimensions for this car are identical to an MR2 spyder.

If the numbers make sense, yes I would. With a fixed roof, it's a different car. Like they do with the Scion, Mazda builds the car and puts a Toyota badge on it.

ND sales will slow after a year or two, having the Fiat and possibly this Toyota could keep the number of cars Mazda builds at a decent number hopefully making them a better return on investment.
