Ok put a 1.6 with duo vtec [short stroke K motor] and let it spin to 9k, I'd be happy with it.
If nothing happens and there is no one around why did it not happen?

120hp/L from 1.6L and 9k+ rpms. that would be a fun motor.

And the idea that they'd be be hitting 400+ lbs less than the current Miata (in any sort of road legal, modern safety form) is a pipe dream.
The NC Miata is not exactly light. My NC grand touring was 2600lbs. The next miata is rumored to weight closer to 2200lbs.

The Elise is only street legal because Lotus was able to be exempt from US crash testing because of the low numbers sold. The Elise is a moving death trap with no crumple zones.

The MR2 spyder was 2150lbs, passed US emissions and safety standard, and was a comfortable daily driver. You can bolt in the 2zz engine from the celica that is also in the Elise and you have a 180hp/2200lb convertible that gets 34mph and easily passes emissions.

Rumors But I hope you are right. And 2200 lbs certainly far more believable than 2000.

MRS was a great car and would be great to have a similar type vehicle from Honda. Although, again, the MR-S was $25k+ over ten years ago and still only had the puny 1zz (meaning I would have expected a closer to $30k car back then if it came with 2zz stock).

In the end, I hope they aim more for building a GOOD, FUN car, rather than a CHEAP car.

That article is over 18 months old. You couldn't fine anything more current about the new NSX?
