    Default Hankook Rs3 tires

So I'm trying to shop for some Rs3 tires and lately it seems like getting sizes in 245/40/17 or 255/40/17 is pretty much non-existent at this point??

I remember calling a few tire shops around the LA area about a month ago and one of the guys even said - "We can't even get tires to people who are sponsored by Hankook"

Tires seemed to be back-ordered and the ETA is unknown. I also got a call from American Tire Depot today saying that the ETA on the tires is not known.

Tirerack seems to not list the sizes I'm looking for either:

Rs3's are in high demand from what it looks like...and not enough supply.

So I sent an email to tirerack to ask when the 245/40/17 and 255/40/17 Rs3's will be available...this is the response:

    "Hi Andy,

Looks like both are due at the end of April right now. That is my best information right now, With Hankook though I have found they sometimes will just show up before the ETA, so check back weekly, or place an order so you are in line if they do come in early. We do not charge your card until we ship.

    Seth"

My tires right now, probably only have 2 more track days in them left or so. Might have to buy some used Rs3's if I can even find them...

    can I ask why RS3 ? isn't that so 2012 ?
in my limited testing using girly car, Rival is definitely a better tire for track. this is confirmed by GRM tire tests.

a few s2k'ers I've talk to seem to think RS3 is better. may be twitchy butt don't work with Rival

Rivals being better? I don't think anyone who's driven on them with an S2000 have claimed that. lol.
    Do you understand?

Rival is nowhere near as fast as the RS3 on the S2000. It may have other advantages (e.g., resistance to heat cycling), but as far as outright speed, they're not even close. Not even arguably close.

I found that out the hard way after reading these "test" and Emilio's positive comments re them on the Miata.

This is weird, because Rivals really are just that much faster on a Miata, i wonder if it's a fluke, or an issue with the tires integrity in a larger size.
