Rob, I remember some years ago you telling me that you didn't like Top Gear. Glad to see you came around.

Sweet!! Hopefully I'll still have amazon prime next year, though this would certainly be motivation to keep it. I haven't had cable TV in at least a year now, this is confirmation that I made the right move.

Let's hope Clarkson doesn't punch anyone during a drunken stupor.

It's what Top Gear turned into that I don't like, I haven't seen an episode in years.

The early to middle seasons were fantastic, but once it started getting into the heavily scripted and forced jokes and bogus reality tv I checked out.

There's rumors that increased BBC involvement drove the scripting and sitcom bs with stuff like setting caravans on fire while camping. There's a certain demographic that adores that stuff, and it isn't me.

Similar deal with Deadliest Catch. It was fantastic when it was a documentary, not so much as reality TV.

    I feel the same way.

But, the reliant robin episode stands as my favorite episode, despite being scripted to the moon.

The robin bit was scripted, sure, but it works because it's a solo Clarkson piece. It's also much more slapstick than reality TV.

Unfortunately those people also work at the TV networks.

Exactly. Clarkson kept running into people I didn't recognize but it was clear the audience was supposed to. Scripted cameos. It was essentially making fun of the fact it was scripted. I loved it.

I'm kind of an oddball comedy wise. I hate most modern comedy with a passion. Currently suffering through Arrested Development season 1, waiting for it to not suck, watched the first two episodes of Parks and Rec, hated it, don't like the Office (hate awkward-funny), etc etc. Anything with a shaky cam makes me furious. Hate hate hate that it's in vogue right now (sorry Eric).

Robin Space Shuttle was an outstanding piece, though.

The convertible people carrier and Nissan Micra C+C is still my favorite episode, though.

I'm in total agreement. I was to shoot any director than uses shaky-cam, and/or make them watch The Matrix, and 300 with their eye lids stapled open until they get choreography.

I haven't watched any sit-com in at least 20 years, maybe 25. They are all incredibly stupid. Laugh tracks . . .
The deposed former Sheriff of trackHQ . . .

    2006 Porsche 997 Carerra Coupe 6-MT - daily driver
1992 Honda (Acura) NSX 5-MT - classic investment I couldn't resist and occasionally drive
    2004 Honda S2000 AP2 6-MT - track day car
2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR 6-MT - when I need a backseat, 4-doors, or a real trunk, and still want to haul ass . . .
