As I have said, cultural differences. You just want to go on a piece of tarmac and drive. Me? However experienced, I would jump on every opportunity to go to a driving course/school and see whether than can tell me anything new, from the very basics to the more advanced things, that's the way it works around here.

My other thread is a potential of such a fight, if you want to see some virtual bloodshed.

I thought his driving through transistions were beautiful. It made 10/10ths look easy.

From the little studying I've done in race car engineering, I seem to recall certain cars are going to drive like that "perpetual oversteer" when driven to their limits, and in certain eras that was actually a sign of a well designed car. e.g. fast cars don't drive well.

I think that was from Carol Smith's opinions.. obviously outdated, but probably well suited for that car.

    Looks so relaxed..

I don't waste my time with that. What the hell do those fast guys know anyway. I had one dude, giving my advice one time.

He was telling me crap about apexes and slip angles and stuff. If I want learn about all that stuff I will go enroll in a geometry class.

I just want to drive fast.

Why should I listen to that dude anyway? He told me he is some sort of international championship driver, but I think he really just makes shoes in Germany for a living.

"The faster the car, the slower is the driver in it" (The bible of racing, verse 10 )

Surely you would agree being a bit less jerky would provide a better, faster result?

Cultural differences. Where I live, the instructor is a GOD on the track. They are really good, and you see that when they show you, after teaching you, how much you still do not know.

One of the people I was instructed by, I remember, is a former instructor at Skip-Barber and Bondurant in the US, a great man, and a none-the-less awesome driver. The man appearing in my video about steering techniques, is a former instructor of Porsche, and currently a driving school manager.

not to distract from the comedy in this thread but...

great car control but who the hell want's to drive that damn car for 6 hours haha.

i guess it's a good way not to get passed though. no one will ever know when your car will instantly get twice as wide. full lock in a mild sweeper? yikes.

Yes, an often overlooked aspect of sliding a car and/or using left-foot braking: people are afraid to pass you!
