Talking Get $1,000 for Driving Just One Time (on the street)

My daughter works in the Human Resources department of Lyft, the rideshare company.

They are offering $1,000 to anyone who signs up as driver and drives a customer just one time prior to next Thursday. No driving is required thereafter. They would, of course, like to pick up some part time drivers, but they truly do not care if you drop out after the one required ride.

To apply, just google "apply lyft driver" to get started. They will ask some "background" questions about you and your car; and most importantly, you will need to enter the referral code when you apply to receive the $1,000 award. The code is: Amy1343.

You will need to submit your app right away in order to insure that you are ready to drive next Thursday.

I hope that this may be helpful to at least a few of you in the TrackHq community.

    I will check.

Have you had any recent citations or arrests - driving or otherwise?

    Ouch!

Other than the time issue, it could be that you may not be able to go back and enter the referral code to qualify for the $1K.

Did you have a referral code option?
    Did you use it.

Oh, wow. Too bad I work during day time hours, when I would be expected to drive.

Anytime. Nightime is actually good because more and more people are using Lyft to go out and avoid parking hassles, drink a few, and ride home without worrying about alcohol blood levels.

Plus, to qualify you could just have a friend call in from a spot very close to where you happen to be per your GPS location.

Or - come to think about it - leave your office during lunchtime and have someone from your company call.

But I am now told that tomorrow is the last day to apply in order to qualify for the $1K.

Sorry for all the questions. So the mentor drive doesn't have to be a drive and you can just get your car inspected as required? Then, you can have someone you know around the block call for a Lyft and you can drive them to some close destination and be done?

    I just applied

I forwarded the thread to my daughter. Perhaps she can shine some light on this.

It is weird, because one person just applied and has been scheduled for his mentor ride tomorrow . . . .

I take it that Lyft works like Uber. Is that accurate?

If so, the Millenials (20-somethings) are using this a lot if my co-workers are an indication.

Not necessarily scheduled, but it said to open the app and then click on the steering wheel in the upper right to unlock driver's mode. It then has a pop up telling me I can take a welcome ride anytime between 0700 and 1700.

Just out of curiosity, how does Lyft (or Uber) handle accidents? How are the cars insured?

Another question that has been bugging me. Because people are using their own personal cars for commercial use. Doesn't that require them to have a valid and current Commercial license like those Tow trucks or big personal trucks with those stickered on ID numbers, and even personal vehicles that serve as taxis with those commercial license #?

Pretty much the same as Uber. They are smaller but growing quickly. Even so, their last round of funding imputes a market cap of over $4 billion. Plus they pride themselves on having a friendlier culture. I use the service a lot when I am travelling, and this seems to be true.

The video below with Kevin Hart Ice Cube, and Conan really captures the spirit. Do note that they have now dropped the pink mustaches. It is funny.
