The reduction in crude from Iran account for maybe 5% of the total increase. The rest is rampant market speculation. Wall street and big oil making money and not paying much taxes on it. Cool huh?

I'm going to celebrate by driving my race car all weekend and towing it with my 350whp truck.

I fully agree with you on greediness taking over the world, and gas prices in particular. And I will join the celebration too.I dont even think of trying to calculate the mileage of the 3.1 L turbo, but my inner voice tells me 3-5 Mpg from the good stuff

Same Costco near me is now at 4.49 for 91. Twenty-four cent jump in five days. Maybe I should reinstall the MS and tune for hypermiling.

I am with you. Haven't really had to fill up with fuel in a year now in the Volt, although I have been driving the Suburban around this past week and watching the gas gauge move in real time.

~$45k, but after tax credits ($7500 federal and I believe $5000 CA for the 2012 model) the lease is cheaper than a Prius of similar spec.

How do tax credits affect the lease payment? You take the tax credits on your income tax returns. You enter a lease contract with a leasing company. The two seem unrelated.

Guess I should have clarified. On the 2011 models (no idea on the new ones) US Bank was eating the tax credit up front on their lease. Effectively you were leasing a ~$36k car instead of a ~$44k car.

That means the me and the rest of us paying taxes in California paid for about 20% of your car. Which six days of the month can we all drive it?

Yep. We don't even get oil from Iran. And we only get a relatively small percentage of our oil imports from the Middle East.

    Capitalism at it's best.

I hope the Volt or something better is still around when it's time to replace the minivan.

Are you sure you don't mean $4.379 and $4.459?
