As soon as Ricciardo's current contract is up however, he can get probably 10x what he's getting now. I'm sure he has no qualms about this years salary. Think about it, you have indisputable and direct comparison to the current 4x welt champion and you're waxing him. That is priceless if you are a young driver. He'd much rather get paid 1.1M at Redbull than 2.1M at caterham where any results he got over one of those drivers would be met with yawn.

Aside from their cost I never understood why people race them.
But obviously I just dont get it. -fatbillybob

I am not sure about that. do you want to be slow Vettel making 31 million or fast Ricciardo making 1 million ?

Even if his new contract will be 10x the amount, it's still ~1/3 of what Vettel makes.

It just means he earns more than $216,000, the lowest paid driver in that list. Pocket change.

And they don't trailer their own cars to the next race and do all their own maintenance and repairs . . .

    Yes, let's not forget that.

There is a lot more disparity among the salaries than I would have thought. How can a guy live in Monaco on $216,00 a year?

I think what is more interesting is the bottom of the list showing driver value in driver cost per point earned. Ricciardo is the man.

    Exactly!
Economy is in the toilet. I can't even race car, can't enjoy $100/person meals, I gotta fly coach, I have to stop buying clothes weekly...
I even had to stop taking phone calls during peak hours on my $600 iphone because I went over my 1800 minute cap!
And worse, my internet speeds don't hit 100mb download/30mb upload anymore.

Just a horrible time to be living in.
