^^ I'm curious what you thought about the experience?

It was awesome! I drove five laps in an Audi R8 and five in a Cayman R. Hands down the Cayman was more fun, but that's a topic for another thread.

Track was compact but had some nice turns. Five laps goes quickly though, and it's pretty expensive. $200 for 5 laps in the Cayman and more for the R8. That's a pretty spendy afternoon, but we had a good time with it. Being able to say "Oh yeah, I would totally take the Cayman over the R8" is cool

Now that I've got my own track toy and do hpde's often, I don't think I have any need to do it again.

There are a few of us forum members who instruct at Exotics (me being one of them).
If you need info on this posting, I can probably help.

I did this a year or two ago and drove the 458. It was fun, but the instructor kept hitting the paddle shift for me at around 7000rpm.

You obviously have a global reputation. He has heard about your rotaries and he was simply trying to protect his employer's hardware.

If you went during the summer, it's highly likely that happened.

It's beyond highly likely, it actually did happen.

He must not have known that I don't even look at the tach until it's double digits. Flat out.

Most don't. Mind you, the average customer at exotics has no motorsports experience whatsoever.
Add in that heat destroys those cars, instructors are told to shift early to save the car. Outside of summer, it's not as bad.

Looks like they have a parking lot track at ACS now. Might be fun to do this. 5 laps in a track without walls would probably be enough to get the general idea of a f430. Would have to call ahead and get approval to have all nannies off though.

Me too. Flog a 458 for a few hundred bucks? I'm in.

Aside from their cost I never understood why people race them.

That's not at all what I had in mind when I heard "parking lot course."
I applied, but they never got back to me

I can't think of too many things more scary than instructing a type "A",with more money than brains, in a car that is way beyond his perceived skill level.

OTOH, I'd come out to watch the carnage. I'm sure there will be damage even in a parking lot course.
