    Default Dodge Demon

Not my cup of tea but OMG. Can a production 1000 hp non-exotic be far behind?

And you thought the Hellcat was something. I got to drive a Hellcat Challenger in 2015, I think, and it was just brutal. This new Demon is mind-boggling:

    From the story:

"NHRA certified 0-60 mph time of 2.3 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 9.65 seconds at 140 mph."

"Demon cools things down by routing refrigerant from its air conditioner system through a chilling unit that helps drop the temperature of the ambient air by up to 45 degrees before the supercharger stuffs it into the cylinder."

Read that again, the goddam intercooler has freon running through it! Brilliant!

For comparison, the transam cars make 850hp (but weigh 2800 lbs or so)

Major props to Dodge for bringing this to fruition. They must have been fighting the bean counters the whole way.

    The Demon is pretty epic.

It is a wonderful era to be buying cars.

The only bad part is that with each generation that the performance improves the driver is getting more disintermediated from the actual driving.

    hang on.... hang on.... ah.

"Disintermediation, in finance, is the withdrawal of funds from intermediary financial institutions, such as banks and savings and loan associations, to invest them directly. Generally, disintermediation is the process of removing the middleman or intermediary from future transactions."

OK, I will get rid of the finance/MBA geek speak.

    Default 5//60

With a 5/60 warranty that's 120,000 1/4 mile runs including returns to the start line.

    Since we don't have the 140 mph to 0 time, guess 9.65 seconds, the same time as 0 - 140, resulting in 19.3 sec 0 - 140 - 0.
At 1/2 mile per run that's 120,000 runs for 2316000 seconds = 26.8 days, well within the 5 year warranty.

I think my tire budget will disintermediate this process.

To me, this car is like a fair ride. Fun for a couple of times but after that you're done and ready to move on.
