Default Corvette accident with 4 fatalities

    http://www.dailynews.com/breakingnews/ci_15030071

Saw this on TV earlier. Im sure there are more informative articles. All 4 were in their early 20s and in the Corvette. Didnt initially know the roof had collapsed like that.

It's a sad situation no doubt, but as they say.......stupidity hurts......or kills in this case.

We tell people to come out the track where it is much safer to run your car at speed. Of course the event organizer wouldn't have allowed 3 people in the passenger seat of a 2 seat sports car.

This is sad and I send my condolences to the families.

    Darwin was right.

And I don't think they'd allow EtOH, either.

On-track DWI probably wouldn't fly well either. What a waste of life

I believe the article i posted is an earlier one, because their pics and names were noted on TV when i saw it yesterday. IIRC the 2 girls were CSUN students, and i believe one of the girls was the owner/driver of the car.

Geez, so sad. They all could have been alive and learning how to drive that car properly if they would've just gone to an HPDE instead of Roscoe Blvd :/

Or paid attention in biology class especially the Darwin part?
If nothing happens and there is no one around why did it not happen?

I'm not it proves anything beyond sh!t happens. Yes they were acting foolishly and clearly made some bad decisions but who hasn't? I've done lots of dumb things that could have easily killed me and others and luckily that didn't happen.

Basic car control techniques should be taught prior to obtaining a license! Especially if you are a fairly young driver about to drive a high powered RWD car!

Maybe I been in Japan too long but they stopped the whole track track for like 6 hours over a couple dead bodies? That happens all the time here from suicides and its like a 5-15 min delay depending on how bad the cleanup is.

I'm not gonna lie, but if you put yourself in that kind of position, and it happens - you kind of screwed yourself.

I agree we all do stupid things. Driving drunk with 4 people in a convertible crosses the realm of stupid things people do that is acceptable. That is just plain ****ing stupid. I am sure most here can agree. And if not, then maybe I am a little harsh. And I'm not even an older aged member on these boards.

Agreed. Iv'e never done anything as stupid as these kids but I've definitely been nothing but lucky a few times. The important thing is that you learn.

One of the big problems with drugs and alcohol is that it impairs your judgement and it effects people differently. I'm fortunate guess that when I was younger and occasionally drove when I shouldn't have, I was the cautious type. Mind you, I was never drunk but probably over a legal limit for something.

Think about all the things that had to go wrong for a corvette on city streets to end up upside down. What are the chances of that happening? Even with all of the poor decisions, the chances of that car flipping and all 4 killed are astronomical.

If there's some good, at least they didn't kill the dad on his way home from his second job . . .

You mention being harsh and not even being one of the older guys here. Notice that most of us older guys are less harsh and we really feel for the families. Many of us have kids and don't even want to imagine what it would be like to get the call their parents got. We've seen our fair share of sh!t happening and try to not pass judgement.
