I think of all those pictures of him in the Paddock Diner at WSIR. RIP Carroll.
The deposed former Sheriff of trackHQ . . .

    2006 Porsche 997 Carerra Coupe 6-MT - daily driver
1992 Honda (Acura) NSX 5-MT - classic investment I couldn't resist and occasionally drive
    2004 Honda S2000 AP2 6-MT - track day car
2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR 6-MT - when I need a backseat, 4-doors, or a real trunk, and still want to haul ass . . .

The guy had heart problems in 1959, which is why he quit racing. Then he scores a heart transplant with an organ from a 38-year-old addicted to gambling. I'm glad we had him as long as we did. Made the automotive industry a lot more interesting.

I am surprised you did not mention that he is a SCCA member....

Thanks Hakeem. He was a real "one of a kind."

Thinking about him takes me way back to my first youthful sport car yearnings. The original small chassis 260 c.i. Cobra was such a little gem - and way fast (4.2 sec zero to sixty).

Not sure if anyone else is watching the 3 part documentary on velocity right now but there is a ton of vintage Socal racing footage
