Default Carmax warranty on different vehicles, update.

so in another thread, I said I bought a 2015 Armada from Carmax. I pestered (don't feel bad because just bought one) the sales to give me a run down of different type of cars on Carmax warranty.

few years ago, there was a long thread on Trackhq here about buying unreliable cars at Carmax because of their bumper to bumper warranty. Carmax warranty is really pretty awesome. I now have 2 cars (both not so reliable) because of Carmax warranty.

most CPO (not all) warranty sucks compared to Carmax. Toyota/Honda only give you 1 year bumper to bumper, then ~5 years / 100k miles on Powertrain only. Nissan is worst, there is no bumper to bumper, only Powertrain. Porsche is pretty good with CPO. Merceds is only 1 year bumper to bumper, nothing else.
all CPO can be "upgraded" to better bumper to bumper though.

here are some numbers. note if you don't take it to Carmax (though Carmax often takes it to dealer if it is something they can't handle), deductible is $50 more

    2015 Armada with 45k miles.
$1,500 for zero deductible for 5 years extra (till 2022) or 75k miles

    2015 Armada with 45k miles.
$2,000 for $150 deductible for 5 years extra (till 2022) or 100k miles

2013 Jaguar XF Supercharged with 21k miles
    $3,039 for $100 deductible for 5 years (till 2022) or 75k miles
    $3,769 for $100 deductible for 5 years (till 2022) or 100k miles
    $4,529 for $100 deductible for 5 years (till 2022) or 125k miles

2011 Range Rover with 50k miles
    $4,200 for $100 deductible for 5 years (till 2022) or 100k miles

    2007 Porsche 911 with 30k miles
$2,500 for $100 deductible for 5 years extra (till 2022) or 75k miles

2014 Porsche 911 with 12k miles ($67k new, which is thought is very reasonable price after you add the following warranty, but note factory warranty is 4 years.)
$2,500 for $150 deductible for 5 years extra (till 2022) or 75k miles

I didn't do screen shots, but some of the cars. But cars like Audi A4, BMW 3s and C Class are all about Jaguar XF level if not more. cheapest of all are Porsche 911s, Boxster, etc.....Panamera was more like Range Rover category.
