^^^ You're quoting Rodney King now?

    2006 Porsche 997 Carerra Coupe 6-MT - daily driver
1992 Honda (Acura) NSX 5-MT - classic investment I couldn't resist and occasionally drive
    2004 Honda S2000 AP2 6-MT - track day car
2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR 6-MT - when I need a backseat, 4-doors, or a real trunk, and still want to haul ass . . .

so I'm wrong for being offended by people saying my car resembles a $500 bucket when thousands have been invested into it? yes, part of the fun is having a less expensive vehicle that can outperform expensive stuff. But basically being called a junkyard racer is a little extreme.

    Well... yeah.

You asked for help, you got tons of good information, and now you're complaining about the information you got and that Richard said your car looks like it could make a good lemons car, when it DOES look just like a lemons car.

Also, saying that you have thousands invested in it doesn't pull any weight around here. There's no shortage of people putting lots of money into cars while having no idea what they are doing. In fact, we're more likely to make fun of you since you have thousands in your car and it's not working well. You got your help, so stop complaining about it not being served with silver utensils.

Nobody banned you. I will just observe that you have a very thin skin and a chip on your shoulder. Now with Rob weighing in, there are three longtime members here who think your car would be great for a LeMons race.

I think you don't yet get the culture of this board. It's basically a bunch of guys affectionately talking sh!t. I mean, let's face it, it seems 90% of the users drive Miatas, and Miatas are kind of . People who live in glass houses, etc, etc. So, just roll with it.

Re your splitter: Where did you fail in it's design? Or, in other words, why didn't it last long? I ask for my own education and benefit.

wow rob.. you seem really protective of Richard, knew something must be up with someone who drives a purple miata..
I agree with bump. So if anyone wants to continue to talk about technique or handling and not looks that'd be cool. and if anything I have agreed everything you all have been saying other than trying not to roll..

yeah I got that.. typical can dish it out but can't take it scenario..
splitter didn't survive that spin. It was too secure i guess. I knew it would rip the bumper off if i went in the dirt, in which it did (there is a shot of it at very end of the video). I didn't even wanna put it on cause I had already been in the dirt a couple times that day; got peer pressured into it though.

This is what I came home with:
first pic is/was a mount I made that dropped down to hold it, second is what is left of tie bar where the back of it mounted, then the air dam..

Crany: you need to lighten up on Trackhq. it has been proven over and over again on this forum:

S2000 drivers are bunch of sucky drivers that can't handle a little oversteer. S2000 are 99% of all spins on track (I have the statistic to prove it).
Miata drivers are all ghey. but best drivers
    MR2 drivers are Miata wannabe
Evo drivers are gheyer, witness all pink, orange, green wheels. (search for a "you are so ghey" thread).
Corvette drivers are all gold chained, massive chest hair real man but don't move out of the way of a Miata in twisties.
Mustang drivers never moves over for anybody (search for the famous "karate chop" video)
Focus drivers are... well, it is FWD, so it isn't a race/track car, so they don't belong here...
FD drivers are arsonist in hiding. They love watching car burn...
BMW drivers.. well it is an ultimate driving machine... they must know what they are doing... see bimmerforum
GTR drivers simply can't drive, that's why they need all those electronic nanny
    edit: Civic drivers are cranky

and you took offense by someone calling it a LeMon car ? Burgoon's and Richard's old Miatas have been called a LeMon cars many times.
thread drift is a given on Trackhq...

How was the car handling through the other corners? Besides the front splitter, your car doesnt seem to be set up for oversteer.

All that needs to happen is for that stopped wheel to dig and over you go, and I thought I was! I've saved myself in off-road driving in the past and think its just instinct. I steered into it and tried to pin second gear but looks like i misshifted..
back to topic. what's op talking about ? what's the theory behind this ? vs. "both feet in" ?

op huh? so I've got the whole chess club against me..
simple theory, just that a stopped wheel is more likely to catch on something rather than a spinning one which can carve or cut though it.. I understand the point of track safety you bring up but when in the moment was just trying not to roll.

LMAO... but honestly who wouldn't take offense to their track pride and joy being called a Lemon's car. Primer-ed paint, and rock hard DOT R's aside the car looks like a nice track car. Sounds pretty ball-sy for a 1.5, is there a transplant in there?

I'm with the assessment of the splitter and wingless rear. A 90mph corner, front biased weight split, with seemingly significantly more front downforce than rear (rear likely develops a good amount of lift) and a curb to unsettle the car = an "Oh Sh!t" moment in my mind.

Luckily I don't put all my eggs in one basket when it comes to hobbies; so I never try, nor want, to be part of a certain "clique." I know the rap Honda guys get and I'll make fun of the majority as well. But where is the respect for the grassroots of the sport here? Saw on the new member thread you tell a bimmer driver to buy a miata an save his daily driver, but yet now you'll rip on me? I expected criticism but not just disrespect cause I dont have $500k of cars sitting in my garage. Miatas are cool on here but Hondas arent.. wow! I will decorate my car, then me and that porno'd out grey Focus can hang out.. Go back to sucking poop dick you typical Evo owner!
Oh wow, I didn't see this coming. You obviously have never done any Lemons racing. My team has done 5 or 6 races and there are some awesome cars out there. In fact some of my best racing has been in my Lemons car and I've actually passed Lamborghinis and new M3 bmw's at Buttonwillow at a Speed Ventures track day in our $500 crap can . Like it or not, your car would make a good Lemons car because it's small, light, and seems to be pretty quick. There are bmw's with full aero, a geo metro with a 1300 cc bike engine (fast as hell), a V8 model T ford, tons of rx7's, miatas, old crown vic police cars, jaguars, limos, you name it. People actually spend small fortunes building fast reliable Lemons cars despite the $500 limit. I've seen nicer cars racing at Lemons than many cars at NASA events!

Also, nobody here judges others by what car they drive, whether it's a porsche cup car, T1 corvette, or a spec miata. This is a track forum and all race cars are equal out on the track as they each have their own race classes. You need to lighten up and laugh a little on this forum.

One other point I wanted to make about your setup question: never make setup changes based on track sessions on hard crappy tires. Throw some good tires on the car and see how it handles and then decide. Otherwise you might go round and round chasing the best setup for your car. Just my $0.02.
