I'm sure this video will stop some dealerships from marking up the new Z06 by $10 - 20k...

    Your sarcasm detector is malfunctioning.

I was in a Chevy stealership today for service on my pickup. They still had a $5k dealer markup on an automatic, convertible Z51 / luxury package Corvette. They just reduced it from $10k evidently. I wished them luck selling it...

A manual tranny Z06 is already being discounted slightly, and an auto tranny will be discounted once they start to roll out in the next couple of months. Chevy is not going to limit this car like Porsche does with the GT3's. Since the Z06 is already having reported issues with heat soak and the inability to tune the car without going into limp mode, I suspect this might scare off some potential buyers in the near term.

OMG you are my new best friend. If there is anything I hate most about my current 5.2 Ferraris is the immobilizer. If I could excorcise that POS out of my Maranellos I would be in hog heaven. I would rather have my car stolen than deal with the immobilizer.

It may not be a popular fact, but usually one type of ECU is used from many manufacturers. But they can use different ways to implement the immo.At least we can try to solve the problem.Good thing is that once we have the original data stored safely nothing would be lost in the attempts to perfection.

I took mine out to Thunderhill once when I had it. Didn't have any heat soak problems, but after a 25 minute session I didn't want to drive it anymore. It was too fast without any safety equipment....

I'm w/ Billy on this one -- not sure why anyone would think a Supercharged Corvette would make a great regular use track day car. Does make for good paper numbers though, which is what they're selling.

That is perfectly find if GM did announce that. After all the hype that the the whole car was developed on the track, after the name Z06(C5 and C6) is associated with a great all around enthusiast track car, comes Z06 that is a completely different animal.Hell the Chevy factory driver had it around RA and even the press was introduced at the track. What would you think if you are just a regular vette fan?If someone bought one already with the intention do do a few track days a year, what is he going to do now?

I'm sure it's fine for a "couple track days a year" -- that person isn't going to be able to push it nearly hard enough to have any issues. If you're talking about a hard core track guy who's going out every few weekends, then they should know better.

I don't know better, I'm just an idiot who hopes that the press build up is true, is impressed with the robustness of my C5Z06 racecar, sees forced induction doing fine in F1, nationally clubraces vettes in SCCA, does all my own mechanics including engine rebuilding, and can rebuild and support your Ferrari challenge car. Some might label me hardcore.

GM fail IMO. It doesn't matter if average buyer are not fast enough to Reach limp mode. Every potential buyer imagine the day they take the z06 on track and advanced to super duper advanced group and turn sub 1:50 at BW13. You really think a z06 buyers would tell themselves that they can't drive or too scared to go fast ?

It is just like 99.9% of Bugatti Veyron owner won't go past 240mph, but the ability to is what sells the Veyron.

Z06 will still sell. But it is now a with waxer reputation. GM will need to build another model to get their street cred back

Let's leave the full amateurs and super expert drivers out of it.If stock C7 runs 1:54 @ Buttonwillow with a super advanced driver logic point that a medium to advanced driver should do at least 2:00 in C7Z.Which is overall intense driving and effort from both driver and car.So how many laps could it do in June or October? How many 1:54 it could do?
Regardless of the Rob's hopes C5Z and C6Z may start go up in price now

this reminded me of Tesla S. many on Tesla forum states how awesome S was on the track, citing all the numbers. I went huh ? you can't do 1 hot lap in a Tesla S without going into limp mode. many argued and say they don't have that issue....obviously there is a good reason for that

One wonders how long it will take Chevy to produce their own flat plane V8.

I have terrible memory with stuff I read about cars I don't own, but Ford is putting one in one of the Mustang variants I believe.

Edit: new gt350 is getting it.
