According to that post it affects the N63 most but the effects extend to N55, N57, N63T, S63, or N74. The most perplexing of those to me is the N55 varients. I'd never own any of the other bimmers on the list but the N55 is their bread and butter and it's in just about anything a track bound car nut would be interested in... save the m's.

Hopefully I'm interpreting that bimmerfest link wrong. Bimmerfest - BMW Forums - View Single Post - BMW revised battery replacement

    In plain english.

What we should be concerned about is piped in engine noise on the M3/4. JUST SAY NO TO FAKE ENGINE NOISE!
Unfortunately it is built-in in pretty much any performance car of today, probably Corvette and Camaro are 2 of the very few exceptions. With the turbos getting more popular it gets worse.

?? Other than. European manufacturers. Who else does it ? fatbillybob said piped-in, I am sure that a typo. He means to say fake exhaust sound emitting from speaker. I don't mind piped in, at least is real sound. What BMW doing is fake pre-recorded sound playing from speaker

You are right...That's exactly what I mean. I will not buy a performance car with fake speaker engine noise. The BMW is the worst because you can't turn it off and you can't delete it. And just for perspective I have 2 BMW's, Dad has 2, Brother has 3. We love BMW's.

I just about cried when I read the new Ferrari 488 will be a turbo car. If Ferrari adds fake engine noise I would rather buy a Prius than a 488.

    Flink,

That is NO ES BUENO! If you delete the fake engine noise you have to delete the entire BMW integrated incestuous BMW audio system and loose a bunch of other functions. It is getting harder and harder to love BMW. It makes all that fake cr@p they put on the consumer version corvette C7R not look so bad.

From what i read they will be going for a bigger turbos and high revving engine, so their exhaust-in-speaker might actually have an OFF switch
