Default Blackbird Fabworx @ MRLS this weekend

The world's biggest Miata event is this weekend at MRLS and Blackbird Fabworx will have 3 cars giving fun rides and a few event specials.

I will be piloting Creampuff, the Blackbird Fabworx demo NB # 222.
It might make the same kind of power that Oli's car has if you only put 2 spark plugs in the engine, but Creampuff is light, has excellent aero and super stiff chassis, brakes hard and generates ridiculous amount of grip.
It didn't win the 2012 Miata Challenge championship and runner-up in 2013 (in Super Modified) for no reason

Ryan will be piloting his turbo NA # 13.
It's not the highest power turbo setup at ~215 RWHP, but this car makes excellent use of it with one of the most radical aero packages ever seen on any Miata.
This car won the 2013 Miata Challenge championship in Super Modified and holds a number of track records for the class - all of which were set on street tires!

Erik will be piloting his 10 AE street / track car #113.
This car represents the level of safety prep we capable of delivering at BFW to those wish to maintain street usage yet combine it with high quality safety setup that also looks great.
Recent engine work also makes this car rather quick with over 150 RWHP.
This car was the runner-up of the 2013 Miata Challenge street class.

All three cars are equipped with high quality racing seats, harnesses and additional measures of safety.
As such, they take a few minutes to strap into and adjust, so if you're coming for a ride with either of us, please be present at the Blackbird Fabworx garage at least 15 minutes ahead of time to make sure that we maximize the track time for your ride and everyone else's.
Full face helmet is required for a ride in Creampuff (and highly recommended regardless).

On the list of event specials we have a few offers.
Rarely does one have an opportunity to try an aftermarket part prior to buying, but we will have a couple trunk lids for NA and NB with our adjustable Lexan spoilers installed for you to try before you buy.
    trymetrunklids.jpg

Just come to the BFW garage on vendor alley prior to your session and we'll help you swap the trunk lid right there and then (quick swap, only 4 nuts). We'll have a padded rack to protect your trunk lid while you're out on track.
And after you loved it on track, you can order yours right away. First few buyers will be able to pick their's up from a small stock that we'll have at the track.

All roll bar orders taken at the track will enjoy a $50 discount.

Lastly, we will have a limited quantity of Blackbird Fabworx T-shirts for $10 a pop.
These are guaranteed to boost your sex appeal!

    Hope to see you there!

    You offering a rental?
A day does not go by where my thoughts fail to masturbate over the idea of getting a Miata and testing my mettle against what may be the best car community I know of. But that would require giving up on this:

That is a very tough sell.

Papers, people, jack stands, ramps... you'd be surprised the utility of a 1,900 pound paper weight.

    What a weekend!
So much prep went into it but everything worked as planned and I had a great time.
Met a million people over the course of the weekend and got to hang out with some fellow track HQers, jokes with Sav and OJR, Beers and food with Brendan, Anthony and the BFW crew, scotch around thefirepit with the usual suspects @ 949R.

Our garage and pit area resembled a train station with people loading and unloading for fun rides all weekend long.
The reactions from people riding in Creampuff were absolutely hysterical, from laughing, clapping and playing driver from the passenger seat during the rides to hilarious commentary after.
Favorite comment of the weekend - "I've never been in a car that took corners so fast while staying on track!"
I have a pile of videos to go through, gotta do some editing but there's lots of good footage from both cameras.

Erik got some great pictures, I'm sure he'll load a few later

The usual VVT hickup - cam sensor went out.
Car started cutting bad at part throttle all of a sudden, limped it around until I got back to the garage, instructed my passenger to stay strapped in, jumped out, put a new sensor in 30 seconds and drove right back out with a healthy car.

    Which car were you in?

I was on track for 20 sessions this weekend and drove a total of 5 laps this weekend without a passenger in the car.
Never got a clean lap and all the laps that I got by myself were in the high-intermediate group which was not an open passing group so hanging out behind guys in corners and such...
When I'm lapping with passengers my rule is to take it down a couple notches, no wheels off and no sideways action.
Lap times with passengers were ranging between 1:48-1:50, depending on traffic.
