Ok, the economy is in a recession. On the lighter note, you can pick up some awesome cars for very cheap.

    Porsche 928 S (V8) - $6,000
    Porsche 944 Turbo - $7,500
    Toyota MR2 Spyder - $8,000-9,000

    $10,000-25,000
    Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo - $10,000
    Dodge Stealth RT/Twin Turbo - $10,000

    Honda S2000 (AP1) - $10,500 $9,000
    Mazda RX7 (FD) - $10,000-14,000
    Mazda RX8 - $11,000-14,000
    Nissan 350Z - $12,500
    Chevrolet C5 Corvette - $14,500-15,000
    Porsche Boxter - $16,000
    Porsche Boxter S - $19,000
    Chevrolet C5 Corvette Z06 - $20,000-25,000
    Porsche 911 Carrera (996) - $25,000 $20-24,000
    Acura NSX - $25,000 $18-24,000
    BMW M3 (E46) - $25,000 $18-24,000

you can even get a not so clean 996 for around 20k now. AND they are trying to form a spec 996 class as well.

My vote would be for a 996 as well or at least a Boxster S as long as there is enough left over to actually modify the car.....I didn't therefore I have an S2000 but I think the car is becoming just as capable if not more so for far less money.

3rd Gen RX7's (FD) are now in the $8-15k range...IMO one of the best chassis' and bang for the buck, although gotta be careful when dealing with a used turbo rotary if it has not been very well maintained.

2nd Gen FC's are like sub $6k for clean Turbo 2 models as well. Crazy!

    Great stuff Billy. Thx.
The 63K miles 2003 S2k seems like a good deal. My only concern about buying a car that I know I will drive the xxxx out of it is its reliability, unless its a $2K worth 240SX. Anything over 60K milage range seems too high for a constantly tracking S2000 right?

I wouldn't worry until the 80/100 mark. 60k is barely getting started. I would venture that particular car has never seen the car at all.

I've beaten the piss out of Miatas with over 140,000 miles on them, redline all the time at the track (NA and NB).

I've also tracked NSXs with over 100,000 miles, and really beat on one with 140,000 miles, and another one with over 100,000 and has been supercharged for over 20,000 miles.

I'd say the S2K should be fine...

If that is the case maybe the older AP1s will be more worth it then, since they are much cheaper, and more fun with their natural twitchyness if they hold the same reliability as newer AP2s.

You can get pickup trucks and SUVs for pretty cheap these days. Maybe a truck time attack series is in order...

I think Billy is right, Honda motors are bullet proof. I've gone through at least 6 NSXes and none of them has given me any major problems. I've driven some really high miles(200k-300k miles) Hondas also. Just remember to change your oil every 3k miles(normal driving) and you'll be fine.

Ooopps, forgot I'm on TrackHQ. Yeah, it's an automatic but still pretty cheap for a clean, new body GT I think. My bad...mileage is on the high side considering it's a 2006.
