    Default ATV side by sides

I don't understand this. If Arctic Cat can build something like this for offroad driving for $19,000, why couldn't some manufacturer of a similar size build something for the racetrack at about the price? Seems like as soon as you gear something to a road course, the price quadruples.

Good question. On another note, what's the point of a $20,000 side-by-side like the one you posted? Seems like redneck souped-up golf cart kind of thing to me.

    Kinda like the thunder roadster.

Definitely not a souped up golf cart. I drove a 2013 Polaris 900 RZR XP at the MX track a couple weekends ago. It was incredible what it could do STOCK. Landed softly off of big jumps, stable, and handled well. As close to a stadium truck you can get off the showroom floor with a warranty. These vehicles have come a long way in 10 years.

Does anybody know who makes those little rally cars that look kinda like 999 Motorsports full size trackday car? It's like a side by side, but not. Saw it on youtube recently but can't recall the name.

But to Brett's posit, yes, it seems like one of these companies could make something asphalt specific for even lower cost.

Aside from their cost I never understood why people race them.
But obviously I just dont get it. -fatbillybob

The crash protection in these things is pretty sad... seem sort of OK for a rollover in the sand... but you want nothing to do with concrete wall or a corvette + t-bone incident...the "cage" has more than a few places where it bolts together. (they ship them boxes stacked in containers)

Also it's designed to throw rooster-tails...The parts can take hits but not sustained loads... Add traction and I bet it pukes transmission parts, melts it's brakes, and destroys it's hubs in less than 1/2 hour.

There's a small company here in Santa Barbara called Motobuggy making something like this that can be used on or off tarmac. Not sure how far along they are but their site says kits start at $9995.

Here's a thread I started about them a while back.

There are also the Pro 4 cars which are road racing chassis based on the Allison Legacy cars. They're supposed to be in the $24k range. Here's a thread where we discussed it awhile back.

New Allison Legacy builds for road racing

Has anyone seen anything on the Factory Five mid-engine Subaru car lately?
