    Default "Artisan" Rant!

Not track or car related, but . . .

I absolutely hate the ridiculous, over-used word "Artisan." It is used mostly in connection with food or drink. Example "Artisan Cocktail" -- Translation, the restaurant or bar wants to charge you $13- for a drink you could make at home for 50 cents.

I propose that anytime you see the word "Artisan" connected to any food or drink, the word "BullSh!t" should be substituted.

"Good evening sir, would you like to pay $13- for our Bull$h!t Cocktail?"

Can we add Organic and Gluten-free to the list as well?

But I'd like those artisans that handcraft my drinks at Starbucks some of them are actually cute. I do understand how can you have artisan corn chips that are in a sealed bag from the factory, that fry-o-matic doesn't think it just follows a program. I think it's an excuse to play around with food and fool someone in to eating it.
If nothing happens and there is no one around why did it not happen?

The word "Organic" has been discredited for at least 40 years. There are actually some benefits to gluten-free foods to some people, such as my autistic son, but I agree -- gluten basically means wheat. Why does a can of pineapple say it's "gluten-free"? Of course not, it's not bread or pasta, it's PINEAPPLE!

Actually, a TV commercial for McD artisan bread today pushed me over the edge to post this thread.

It's all in the marketing which should imply BS.

But, yeah, I agree, this is getting ridiculous.

Actually, I've had really good luck with the quarter pounder with tomatoes on it. My local McD must have a really good tomato deal, because great tomatoes go a long way to improve the sandwich.

It's on the way home from the dirt track, they are open past 10, they have room to park a truck and trailer, and they sell salt. I'm in.

    White Lightning!

Actually, unaged whisky isn't so bad depending upon how it's made...when we toured the Balvenie distillery a few years ago as part of the tasting we had some 'new make' whisky that had just been distilled and it really wasn't bad...certainly no worse than some of the minimally aged whisky and bourbon on the market.

I buy Seagrams Vodka (perfectly fine) at the grocery store for $13.99 for a 1.75 bottle on sale. That works out to 35 cents for a 1.5 ounce shot. Add 15 cents worth of orange juice over free ice from my freezer, and voila -- a 50 cent cocktail!

I almost got diarrhea just reading that. Richard, treat yourself, don't cheat yourself.
