Default Any AE86 owners here in trackhq?

So if you happen to own a Toyota Corolla from the early 80's and happen to be on trackhq, and tracks the car, speak up, introduce yourself, I happen to own one and will be attending a streets of willow event in april and was hoping someone here would be going as well to compare times, specs or whatever. This will be my first time i shall grip race my little car.

    Thanks,
    Danny G.

Nobody even knew what an AE86 is. My daughter used to have a 1987 Toyota Corrolla FX that I got her to learn how to drive on. Cost me $500. Is that an AE86? I would never take that thing on track.

"The AE86 generation of the Toyota Corolla Levin and Toyota Sprinter Trueno is a small, lightweight coupe introduced by Toyota in 1983 as part of the fifth generation Toyota Corolla line-up. For the purpose of brevity, the insider-chassis code of "AE86" is used to describe the whole range."

They seem to be popular among mAd tYte DrIfTerS y0, probably because they are cheap, light, rwd and Tsuchiya drove one.

popular yes, light yes, but in no way are these things cheap they used to be but now theyre way way expensive because of the mad tyte drifters and the cartoon initial d! they are fun as hell though and very ez to drive! i would love to own one myself

ok now well i mentioned AE86 because of the chassis code, and well popular known as minorthreat said because of the initial D. now i dont know in what shape your daughters fx must of been in, that you would not happen to take that to the track. but u'd be extremely surprised on how well built that little 4age motor is actually for its old age and technology, and how well put together those cars are. and dont need to know exactly what the AE86 is, as i mentioned at the beginning i wrote "So if you happen to own a Toyota Corolla from the early 80's "

Minorthreat: yes they are not cheap anymore your right.

Richard EVO: your daughters car is not an AE92. The AE92 was a newer model of the corolla made in the early 90's. that motor is known as the 4age Redtop motor. The FX-16 happends to come with the 4age bluetop motor.

LOL there's people who don't know what an AE86 is??? Just kidding guys. Although I am surprised at the same time that there aren't more on here.

I like 'em a lot and would love to own one in the future but the prices really are ridiculous. The amount of power that can be had and the number of engine performance parts for the 4AG is nuts! That's one thing I'm a little disappointed in with the BMW aftermarket especially for the 4cyl M42/44 engines. That seems to be changing though...

I honestly never get tired of youtube videos of the car. That high revving 4cyl is damn sexy!

come to think of it, I don't think I've seen one ran in advanced group in all track days. why is that ? thought they are easy to mod to go fast.

well thats the thing, i've only seen one in the times that i've been to streets of willow that has ever been out there racing for his first time. (i wasn't driving, was there spectating). honestly it makes me sad not seeing any Ae86 out there running with the advanced or beginners, Guess i'll have to get really good and fulfill that spot . Takes quite a bit of money to build that motor to go very fast, but in general the car can be quick around the turns. the corolla reminds me a lot like the miata, not a very powerful motor in hp wise, but the little car can handle like a little champ. but we shall c if someday more people go out there with them.

Ill be there in April, cant wait to try to go fast!

A while back (when I had money to do track events...) there was a guy who would take his blue coupe out. Looked like a fun car. But yea I generally don't see them out except at dorifto events. I think for the amount of money they're going for I'd rather have an NA or NB Miata.

OP just curious but how much did you get yours for?

Every Japanese car manufacturer has codes for various models over the years. If you aren't an entusiast for that brand, you probably don't know what they are.

Our friend Oli, who is faster than anyone else here so far as I can determine, wouldn't know an AE86 from an S13 from an R33 from a 4G63.
