This is a very cool car and the tech they have implemented is awesome and impressive especially considering the cost.

Vacuum-bagged, carbon fiber reinforced plastic baked in an autoclave. So, so cool.

    Some stream of consciousness:

    - so interesting even Richard could sit through it
    - a lot of hand building involved
    - every car looks good in white
    - impressive manufacturing facility
    - last sound you hear in that video doesn't sound like an inline four

ALFA isn't the Latin letter Alpha, it's an acronym - Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili.

The car is indeed very cool and quite the looker.
They designed it like the 8C's little sister and that is a good thing, the 8C is the best design of any car since the 288GTO.

Ask fatbillybob about this video. He has personally overhauled several Ferrari engines. His view is that these Italian car builders go out for lunch in Modena and drink a lot of wine. Then they tinker with the cars all afternoon . . .

That is a scientifically proven fact It is probably different today, but 20 years ago if you went in pretty much any French factory at the lunch break you will see a wine mugs on every table in the cafeteria.

And the Germans drank beer at lunch. Wall Streeters did cocaine. What other stereotype can we come up with?

Guys at the Toyota plant overdose on sake and soy sauce on their breaks.

The equipment in GM's mexico plant can make 80 Silverado's or five hundred thousand authentic corn tortillas in one day.

You don't own a Porsche or a big Wall Street account. Carl owns Ferraris and overhauls the engines himself.

Stateside sales could be more likely with Fiat purchase of Chrysler.

Is this the Italian version of the Miata+s2000+Elise+cayman? What's the cost? Not sure who they would target it to out here. It's probably $80K+ and slower than molasses on the straightaway.

Edit: Did a bit of reading. No manual option.. Under $80k though. I'll stick with an old skool gerabox and nice little reliable Toyota engine in a used Exige thank you very much for a track toy. For the street I'll spend a few grand more and get a cayman.. Infinitely better car and proven PDK tranny.

This "stupendously basic", all-carbon car is much lighter than a Cayman, and will have far fewer layers of technology - kind of an Italian Lotus.

Apparently, selected Fiat dealers are now selling this. Previously was supposed to be Maserati dealers. As far as new car models are concerned, this is possibly one of the more exciting option coming over to the US.

There are some mixed reviews out there. But frankly, I thought they picked up where the Lotus Elige left off, ie light weight, 4-banger, exotic styling etc. As much as we hate auto trans, Eliges would have sold more if equipped with an auto.

Very cool video. Maybe in a few years I'll get the Alfa version of the next Miata. I'm sure the build video won't be nearly as cool.
