Default ALMS at Laguna Seca - Photos

Here are some photos from this Saturday's ALMS race at Laguna Seca. I didn't have media credentials so these were all taken from the spectator side of the fence. Definitely a fun race!

What a nice race day, nice weather and all that.

Great pics! The LM Cars look beautiful at dusk.

I watched it on TV yesterday. Your pics are better than the network's video.

Software? I take offense to that! Everything is done in-camera. Certain lenses with large apertures can produce that effect of having very shallow depth of field. Images like this one:

I used this same camera and lens to take the photo above and photos 1-4...

Aaron, absolutely unbelievable. You have the ability to take a striking photo from an otherwise boring spot/angle. I seriously like these WAY better than what you could have gotten with a media pass. Perhaps it's the spectator perspective. Wish I could have met up with you, we'll definitely organize a TrackHQ g2g next time.

Thanks everybody for the nice words.

Alex, I remember you took some great paddock shots last year. Did you shoot much this year?

I'm not sure I would consider any pictures I've ever taken great, but thank you. I hung around the Tafel pit a bit, talked to Jim Tafel, and also spent some time in the FarnbacherLoles pit, talking to Dino & Greg Farnbacher. They even hooked me up with free lunch at their hospitality tent, which was very cool! Jim and Dino both said they would have given me pit passes but ALMS requires everyone in the hot pits to be in a fire suit! Quite different from Rolex where there were strollers in the hot pits. I was toting the D40 around this year until the battery died, then I resorted to my Olympus P&S.
