    Default 949Racing @ Miata 20th Anniversary

    http://cms.kraftwerksusa.com/id/18/M...h-Anniversary/

Thanks to 949Racing for having me pilot the 949 race car, the event went very very well and thanks to all the hard work that Emilio, William and Oscar have put together for the past 2 weeks.

The Kraftwerks Rotrex Supercharger is exceptionally reliable, after taking over 20 passengers out in back to back sessions, there was no sign of overheating or loss of power. Acceleration band range was NA-like linear and gave me confidence to push the car to the limit at the very edge without worrying about any form of turbo lag or nonlinear acceleration. Best lap of the day with passenger was in the 1:41s(which is matching to Skip Barber Dodge Formula lap times). The car is making reliable and conservative 170whp at the wheel with add on muffler due to sound limit. Overall balance is great, with more suspension dialing in, its easy to break into sub 40s. Its also safe to run over 210whp on race gas, the system sure has great potential.

Thanks to 949Racing, Kraftwerks and William for preping me a well balanced and reliable fast car. Videos will be up some time soon.

Short version of what happened at this event. Group A is open passing. B is open passing on straight only. C and D are low intermediate and beginners. event was ran by Trackmaster.

I and Charles were sharing a car, so we drove in A and B. we also gave rides none-stop. got repeated warnings for driving too aggressive by Saturday noon. would have to park if we don't cool it. We also got chewed out at Sunday's driver meeting.

For those of you that knows me, you know I drive like a grandma !!! I am no Richard_Evo. it was also my 1st time at Laguna, so I took it easy.

when the event was over by Sunday afternoon, I've found out that Brian Goodwin, Andrew (Savington - btw, who was superfast. Gordon need to watch out for him now) and Nick (Andrew's roomate) all got black flagged for "aggressive" driving. I believe all Trackhq'er did get black flagged. this is what I get for hanging with the wrong crowd. We all been around Richard_Evo and RoB_Crash (I like ur new name) too long

oh, Charles really shined this weekend at his home track. He kicked butts

^^^ I'm a pussycat on track. One time I passed William on the inside of Turn 4 at Streets of Willow-CW. I had a million miles between him and me when I took the pass in Red Group, which is open passing, no point by required. He was all the way on the outside of the turn and I was all the way on the inside. Perfectly allowable under the rules and completely safe pass. And I think this was at least a year ago.

Since then he talks about me like I'm Vlad the Impaler on track.

LOL... who has gotten kicked out of a SV event ? I know of only one person

I have seen you dive bomb at least 5-10 drivers. We talked behind your back The general consensus on SV is that you are one of the hardest to pass. you make everyone work at it

William, your car is the meanest looking Miata I've ever seen. Helps to dispel the stereotype that Miatas are

Great driving Charles! Hope to see videos soon. Out of curiosity...what kind of timelaps do the MX-5's in the Skip Barber series get?

Sorry to be a disappointment, but I did not get a black flag. I was only there on Sunday and it took a ride with Charles to figure out the line - thanks again BTW that was incredible. I figured out by the 3rd session to grid early so I had a clean track for most of the time.

I think the street-tired new-gen MX-5's they use get right around 1:50 flat (maybe a smidge under that in Charles' hands.

SCCA Spec Miata's do around 1:47-1:48 I think on RA-1's.

They are on 380 treadwear Bf-Goodwich tires, same as the Formulas.

The mid-pack pace is about 1:50s, track record (I set in my last race) is 1:48.41.

Err, I mean they black flagged me 2.7 times. I was really close to be ejected.
Don't shaved legs make you faster?

Nice driving. BTW, are you downshifting straight from 5th -> 3rd?

Yep, and also short shifting at 6500rpm, just didn't want to put too much stress on the engine after 2 days of running
