How do we not have a thread yet?!

Live stream is up and running -

MCA Hammerhead just broke the record on the very first flyer of the day with a 1:21!

Looks like a nice car for wheel to wheel racing

I see that the steering wheel and driver's seat are installed on the correct side of the car. No doubt this helped.

Slade crushed it with another improvement later in the day, 1:21.5... and yet the one who stole the show was Rob Nguyen in Mighty Mouse with a 1:26 in Pro AM. Currently 3.5 seconds ahead of the next car (but that next car is our "local" hero Will!)

Rob's lap was monumental but does not take anything away from Will's fantastic performance - 2nd in Pro Am and 8th overall in his first WTAC, running against the local hero with million hours more experience around this track.

Completely agree, Will is killing it. Regardless of final position, to come home with a sub 1:30 on their first time to WTAC, incredible. I'm not sure, has anyone from North America ever podiumed in any WTAC class?

Blast from the past... I forgot all about Sierra Sierra.

WTAC 2017. Will killed it, 2nd in Pro Am. 750hp Civic up against the heavy yet 1200-1400hp R8. David v. Goliath.

Unrelated, this pic cracks me up - because of the broken chair. This guy DGAF, he's got work to do.

Pro Am (amateur driver) winning lap from Rob Nguyen's CRX AKA Mighty Mouse.
He said he left a little on the table -
"Must admit there's a 1:25.7 in the car.
T3 took too much kerb and had to lift on exit (normally flat) lost 0.2
Exit T5 too much kerb again and had to lift lost 0.2 again."

For something that puts down close to 700 hp through the front wheels it looks rather civil.

It's nice and refreshing to see the fad of ridiculously disproportionate Hill climb style wings, louvers and dive planes go away and refined and functional aero come into play.

It has a modified glovebox, so it is naturally fast

As much as I am impressed by the cars and drivers, I still wince and the inane rules that require glass windshields and glove boxes but allow $60k engines and cutting edge proprietary dry carbon (expensive) aero bits in "street" cars.
Also no breakdown for power to weight, total weight or engine displacement. Any well developed but less powerful cars (Miatas) have a tough time running against 1000lb heavier cars with 2x the power. But that's time attacking.

If a car is well developed but not for the class, is it still well developed?

Is a GP2 car well developed? Yes.
Is a GP2 car well developed for F1? Wrong question.
