Geez, does Mazda refuse to spray actual colored paint on cars? More greyscale, I exp more from the Italians.

Design scores a solid "meh" in my book.
In case anyone was wondering, I already have two roll bar models that fit the car

I'd have to see more angles, but the hood creases do increase the ""meh" factor.

Someone on Jalopnik already nicknamed them "hood boobs" which I found hilarious

This car will be displayed at the LA Car Show, which starts this Friday (and runs through the 29th).

This chassis has a major problem: the height of the fenders. It's way too high and it makes the car look tall. It's a deal-breaker IMO.

The high waist line is for a niche market segment?

No comparison at all. The Miata looks a lot better.

I kind of like that Fiat used their radiator opening and headlight-surround shape from the last 124 to be sold on these shores.

Not much they can do about fender height with today's crash and pedestrian safety regulations especially if the engine is physically larger than the MX5's. Fiat just didn't use the same visual tricks Mazda did at the front (I think the latest MX5 has a tall ass when seen in real life on the road, so tall that the stock tires look too skinny).

I see the Fiata as a way to keep the MX5 platform alive and nothing more. I have no problem with that. 20 years from now there won't be much else from this generation of cars to choose from when it's time to race.

To me there's no comparison...the 124 is the sister we have to fix up on blind dates.

The front looks ok. I am curious what the rear looks like. I think the rear of the ND is somewhat unattractive, specially the trail lights.

From the pics I think the Fiat looks better too but from what I read, you won't be able to get the nice interior with a manual transmission. Hopefully that will change if I'm ever in the market.

Ah, it looks MUCH better in motion, with people for scale. I'd have to see it side-by-side with an ND to make a determination. The ND has a better interior though. I LOVE painted door plastics.

    Some very good side-by-side photos.

The Miata has a lithe, hunkered down, and the 124 looks dated - almost like the old, high clearance Cadillac Allante that Pininfarina also designed.
