I wonder if you could get it onto the Ring before shipping it back.
It just had a 16.9gal tank as a $0 option. It said regular tank is 14.2. What would the compromise be? A tad bit of extra weight?

You absolutely could go on the Ring. It's just a public toll road on the 'touristenfahrten' days.

Anyway I am freaking in love with this car too. It appears to be pretty much perfect.

No idea on the tank really, just a logic reaction. If it isn't standard, there must be a reason. Being a no cost option points further towards there being a compromise somewhere. But I'm the least qualified to discuss the merits either way. I'll ask a salesman and see if they can find out.
I plan on giving my mobile and email to a Porsche salesman this week. Not likely I can afford one for a long while but a boy can dream. I love the C6Z but it's not really a good track car without hacking it up. The CGT4 with Club Sport package carbon brakes OTOH, retails for only about $20k more than the original Monroni on my C6Z and is in another league as far as track readiness goes.

Aside from their cost I never understood why people race them.

A cyberspace build don't mean $h!t. Why not load up ALL the performance options? I'm guessing $110,000-

Careful with porsche PCCB. They are very expensive to replace and majority of the serious track guys sell them and replace with iron sets.

The PCCB replacement on the vettes is a lot cheaper. Check out to rennlist.com for more info.

No PDK, no hybrid system, no awd... the most "antiquate" Porsche is the most desirable of their lineup.

Good? They shouldn't be at the prices they are at now.

My guess is Porsche anticipated this. Even the product manage interviewed in the introduction mentions that Porsche customers have been asking for this car forever. Pressure from all sides. One assumes Porsche will wait and see what sales are like and where racing takes it. It could end up sitting just a hair down from the 911 where it is now or eventually surpassing it. Bottom line is if you sell more Caymans than 911's and you're making more money doing it, who cares what platform carries the legacy?

first GT3 vs. GT4 comparison test comes out (I bet it will take a while. Porsche won't allow it. so it will have to be private party cars). GT3 sales takes a dive.

    Porsche planner meeting:
"you moron, we always had a policy of making Cayman slower. That's what sells our cash cow, 911"
"Let's put a supercharger on the GT3, making 800whp. customer will flock back to GT3"
"But GT3 will heat soak after 1 lap"
"Who gives a f***, people will love 800whp, we will sell a ton !!!!"

it does matter. GT4 is a sub-$100k car. GT3 is over $150k even for a stripped one. I am guessing GT3 don't cost a lot more to make, yet base price is $46k higher than a GT4!!

Far beyond that Richard. Even tiny little BS interior trim options are $1500. Any monkey can check every box. This monkey might actually buy one in a year or two so consider that build and experiment in viability.

I could see that. It's teh sex factor of carbon though. With relative few being made, I suspect dealers will getting a premium for them. It might be tough or impossible to get one built to spec unless you walk in today and plunk down a $50k deposit or something. More likely dealers will load them up and you won't be able to touch one for less than $120k

CA dealers are the worst.. especially SoCal ones. A few dealers will take your deposit, but you have to buy it at whatever THEY spec it at. teh

I saw this info via another site and thought it was interesting. These guys say the the GT4 will have a longer wheelbase than a 991 GT3.

So, now that the GT4 specs are finally known.... - PistonHeads

I believe the PCCB Brakes are so big, only the 20" wheels will fit, the steels can fit 18", another reason track rats will skip them.

    Track-only Porsche Cayman GT4 spied

    From the article:
We are not sure of what to make of this but chances are this is a track-only version of the recently introduced Cayman GT4. The prototype was spotted undergoing some intense testing at the Monza circuit in Italy and it appears to adopt a lower suspension and rides on race-spec lightweight wheels wrapped around in racing slicks.

The recommended age does rule out Max Verstoppen.
