Well done SRT. I would very much like the C7Z get sent back to the drawing boards and come back with the LM style aero and twice the cooling for a genuine C7R replica. Not gonna happen of course, not in a million years but I'd like it if did.

Aside from their cost I never understood why people race them.

I like the viper; but, you can't brag about beating your competition when you slice up your body work with louvers, install a giant wing, and a giant splitter, and your competition does none of those things. The Viper is faster, but it damn well better be.

I wonder how many people actually comparison shop Vipers and Vette's? I will bet brand loyalty and economics have way more to do with final decisions than one being 2/10's faster on a track.

My wife was talking to a guy at the store yesterday who was driving a new C7. She asked him if he ever tracks it, and he replied that he was waiting for the tires to get close to being worn out before taking it to the track LOL He said OEM replacements are $2,800 out the door!

Will be curious to see if and by how much faster the C7 Z06/7 is at Lagnua compared to the Viper TA after Randy gets a shot at it. Remember, with slicks on, Randy ran 1:30's with the TA. 2014 SRT Viper TA First Test - Motor Trend Page 2

Frankly, I'd like to see someone take the ACR and go own up some ST1/GT1 races with it. It's not like the top teams aren't spending more on their cars anyway.

Props to the Viper for staying naturally aspirated with a manual tranny.

Everything is there to make downforce and make it faster around a track. Every mfg has their track car versions and the Z06 has its stage 3 aero package. I for one find it awesome that Dodge built a Gen 5 ACR even crazier than the Gen 4 ACR which will likely be the fastest normal street legal car out there.

If I were looking at these two cars, I'd probably give the nod to the Viper because it doesn't have a supercharger. And I swore off Chrysler products years ago.

    Hahahahaha!
Here @ Track HQ, where everyone is constantly complaining about how cars are not build hard core enough for track usage, and then one comes along that is focused on track use and going fast, and you're complaining that it's too focused?

According to reports I have read, 4 laps on the track will send the C7 back to the garage itself to cool off.

    awesome!

And looking at used Viper prices, they are becoming almost affordable! You can get a Gen 4 Viper with less than 15K for around $65k.

Gen 3s are going for $45K-$60K!

Gen 3s are less than that... But its the 996 of the Viper world; and no one likes the 996.

I do too, but as a whole the 996 seems to be the unappreciated redheaded stepchild between the 993 & 997.

Get a set of these headlight covers, fix the intermediate shaft bearing and you're good to go. A 996.5!
